Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx -to heavy ?

I am interested in 285/70 x17" cooper discoverer s/t maxx for my 2012 oscar mike 3.73 gears 30 dana front and 44 rear. Is this tire (load range E 12 ply) more of a 3/4 - 1 ton truck tire, or is it appropriate for my jeep. THANKS for any input !
