Cost. Airsoft bead are half the cost and seem to do the same thing.

I didn’t read the entire thread but I had them installed on my ProComp All Terrain 32x1150 and my buddy had them installed in his 33x1250’s and we had a terrible experience with them. They would ride smooth but induce a serious death wobble at about 40 – 45 mph. Both of us had the shop replace them for standard lead at the shops cost. I do hear good things about them for 35’s and up though.

Im going to try the AirSoft BBs...the heavy ones (.20grams). Got the diet scale and BB's at walmart. $10 bucks for the scale, $11 for each container of BB's. Im trying 14oz per tire in 16/40-17 LTBs on Allied's.

I used the .20 gram airsoft pellets to balance my 42in TSL's. Worked like a champ, never clumped, tires ran straight and smooth at any speed. I'm about to do it with my 33's.

Traded some tires today and the guy was going to throw some into the 36" Iroks. Was running them with standard weights and all was good before.
Running 35s now that are radials. Will have to see how it goes when I pick it up here in an hour.

I got my 33's with 8oz+1/3cup (had some extra) of the .12gram air soft beads... they balanced very nicely! I feel some wobble now from about 38-45, but its manageable. No bouncing at freeway speed either. I think the BB's would work better because you can place more mass in one spot than with the larger air soft beads.

I have 10oz of steel bbs in my 33 TrXus and I can only here them if I jack the tire up and spin them.

My tires go out of balance over 65mph... It works great for city streets and such, but trying to run 75 or 80mph just isn't happening. I'll be having them removed and balanced at the shop on Thrusday.

curious how the beads affect getting you tires balanced at the shop.
If you have beads or antifreeze, whatever in there. |

![]() I don't know where you got the 14oz figure from, but that just happens to be exactly what I put in my own wheels. Since they're bias they will flatspot, but once warmed up I have no vibes or wobbles or anything. I have had some very minor shimmy around 45-47mph but it goes away pretty quickly and doesn't bother me. It also doesn't happen all the time, only occasionally. I have no steering stabilizer or anything attached for the time being. I think when I add hydro assist it won't even be noticable. ![]() Video is only up to 45 or 50mph, but I've had it at a constant 70mph before with no issues. FWIW I think 15oz might work slightly better. I used the heaviest steel BBs I could get... I think they are zinc coated? My reasoning is that heavier BBs = less # of BBs required to get to the needed weight = less likely that multiple BBs will want to fight for the same spot in the tire. I have no evidence to back it up, but I think that some people might have problems because if you use the super light BBs, it requires a HELLUVA LOT of them to equal 14oz or whatever. Centrifugal force dictates the tires go outwards on the sidewall inside the tire. If you have a "light" spot on the tire that is maybe 4" round or whatever, I'd rather have less BBs fighting for the same spot because they sure as heck aren't going to stack on top of each other, they're going to fight each other and some will end up where weight is not needed/wanted. /my personal theory.
