Only issue I could see coming from running beadlocks that are not DOT on the street would be insurance not paying if they can link the wreck to the rims.

correct, but the FVMSS does say that wheels MUST have a DOT stamp on them. Allied doesn't do that.

I had a friend with a set of Allieds and he had nothing but trouble with them...they wouldn't hold air and he was even loosing beads. he finally just took them off.

Doesn't the FVMSS only apply to auto manufacturers, not citizens?

If I had those kinds of troubles with my Allieds they would be gone! I have thankfully had no problems for the four years that I have run them.

i think the key is not to go up to some random cop and start asking what is illegal. alot of beadlocks and the simulated look the same and a normal person would never know the difference.

And THAT is why everyone believes the BS when someone says "beadlocks are illegal" blindly without looking for facts.

A bunch of people believed Charlie Manson too

Who says they will care if they are DOT approved... while this could be a valid concern, I have YET to see an actual case of this playing out. If they DO link the wreck to the rims, the only issue would be that they/you cannot sue the wheel manufacturing company since they are shipped with "off road use only" stickers to avoid dealing with people who don't properly take care of their wheels and do the required maintenance.

I'm pretty sure you're right... nowhere is there any law that says they need to be DOT approved to be driven on the road.

Hell... tractors and agricultural **** are allowed on the road with a big orange triangle.. do they have DOT approved wheels?

Police NEVER lied, before there was video. LoL

Cops are allowed to LIE to you. I would never believe anything they said...and I have a LOT of relation & friends that are LEO's.

If you want to know if its legal, see a lawyer...

i will never understand why someone would walk up to a cop and start pointing things out and asking what is illegal. IL state just passed a law that it is now LEGAL to tint the front windows on your vehicle. i gurnatee if you go ask around several cops they will still say it is illegal. so my point being do what you want to your heep, dont draw attention to yourself by doing stupid things on the road and enjoy your rig

The difference between a free country & a police state is that in a free country you feel safe with a cop following you....in a police state you are nervous with a cop behind you, for what they could do to you....

So what are you saying?!?!? LoL

im saying i drive my jeep which could any number of infractions such as bumper height, no light on rear license plate, beadlocks(no one really knows) and no front plate. what Im NOT going to do is drive to a police station and ask the cop to look at my jeep and start pointing out things on there. im gonna drive my jeep like im suppose to do, follow the speed lilmit, stop at lights/stop signs and do illegal wheeling

When they want ya, it won't matter how legal or illegal ya are...they will find something anyway.

Back when I had my 1978 CJ7 one night I pulled out on the road a couple blocks ahead of a cop car that was coming.

I looked down to check my speed, and it was at the 30mph limit.

But a few blocks later the cop pulls me over, and I ask what he's stopping me for and he says "speeding".
Right away I am indignant & fuming.
So I call him out on it and tell him that I saw their car down the road and that I checked my speedo and I was doing the legal limit. And so this stop is BS!

For some reason he shines his light down on my speedo and its STILL reading 30mph sitting at the curb!! So I reach out and tap the glass, and the needle falls back down to zero mph!

Let me tell ya...THAT really takes the wind out of your sails!! LoL

(No, I didn't ge a ticket...Heh)

are they really that heavy as some people using alloys claim?

I am scared of adding too much additional unsprung weight.

I currently Run Stock Steels (painted in black) so..... Would i see a difference in power? (I got a 4banger)
