37's on JKUR question about width

So, I am beefing up my stocker D44's and finally moving up to 37's, I think, but can't get any good information on sizing. The tire I want is the Toyo Open Country M/T which only comes in 37x13.50R17, no 12.5" width. The wheels I picked are Mickey Thompson Classic III with 4.5" backspacing and -12 offset.

I've heard that this combination will also need spacers and I'm loathe to add spacers to a D44 on top of 4.5" of backspacing. Can someone with experience tell me:
  1. Will I need spacers with this equipment?
  2. If so, why? (Does it rub at full lock, etc...)
  3. Will moving to a 12.5 (Say nitto or KM2) fix this issue?

Thanks in advance!

FWIW, I'm running 4.25" bs 17x9 wheels and 37x13.50 Toyos and they don't rub.(11 JKU). I can't remember if I had to adjust my steering stops or not.

On my 08, I was running the toyo 37x14.50-15 on 3.73" bs wheels and I do remember adjusting the steering stops on that one.

That being said, I would think you would be fine and not need spacers though you may need to adjust your steering stops.

Hope this helps.

Thanks! I appreciate the help. I went with a 12.5 this time to see how it goes. I'm pretty excited just to move up to 37's!
