35 x 12.5 x 17 on stock 7.5 inch rims, is this a bad idea???
I went by Discount Tire last night on the way home from work, to see about getting some new shoes on my 2012 JKUR. The tire I would like to get is the Nitto Trail Grappler, 35 x 12.5 x 17. They said they can not mount that tire on my stock 7.5 inch rims, because it's too wide for my stock rims. Anyone have an input on this?

Wow. Yeah. Plugs are fine as long as they arent in the sidewall. Glad to know you found someone to put them on!

Yep. Discount wouldn't mount our Duratracs either, so I bought them elsewhere.
Don't know if you have Evans Tire up in Costa Mesa, but they are cheaper than Discount too.

the reason they may not is, you have to run a lower air preasure on the street to make up for that narrow rim and have a better contact. On a 35 a 17 inch rim has less sidewall to make up for the buldge to tire flatness. should have 8-9 on 12.5 , 10 inch is for 14.5. Disscount mounted my 15x8 on 35/12.5/15 mtr/ks no issue warrantied. have to run them at 26-27psi C rated.

Aside from the wheel being more prone to rolling (side to side) the most problem thing be is straining more for the cap (tread) for the edges...more strain for edges that are glued. Tire not has stability through sidewalls...tread not sitting square/flat...so...more strain on tread cap..maybe not so bad on bias or floatation tires (round profile) but for square flat tread cap can be more bad.. ... ...
