31s on stock ZJ

Can you fit 31s on a stock ZJ Grand Cherokee? Im asking this because a friend of mine has 30x9.50x15s on her ZJ and they seem to have enough clearance to fit a 31 on there. It'd really be calling it close and I bet itd rub a lot though.

Im at a point where I need to replace the tires, but dont have a lift kit on the jeep yet. Been thinking about a simple 3.5 inch lift, but need new tires first. Can I get by with 31s on the stock Zj until I buy the lift in a few months?

Or lift first then 31s

They'll rub, you'll need totrim some plastic off the front bumper.

Even with 3" of lift I had to trim my bumper a bit when I went to 31's.

And if these are going on stock wheels, it's possible they'll rub the lower control arms at full steering lock.

If at all possible, I'd wait to lift it before you go with the 31's.

Ok, waiting for the lift is the best option anyways

They fit for me when on my old 96' ZJ. All i had to do was pound the fin flush in the wheel well behind the tires. The only place they might rub is the LCA's and that can be adjusted or just dont turn too sharp.
To each his own but it dont take 3+ inches of lift for a 31" tire. The budget swap allowed for 285's to fit and flex fine. Good luck either way

I have a zj with 2" bb and just put on 32" Wildpeaks. I needed to trim front and rear. Ended up taking off front bumper. Trimmed my rear fenders. Had to if i wanted any wheel stuffing without ruining my tires. I do rub on LCA at full lock and the sway bar a little. Getting some new wheels with correct bs will solve that issue.
