2012 Jk Unlimited Sport, on 16" steel wheels, which tire size?

I have a 2012 JK Unlimited Sport, on 16" wheels.

All stock.
I drive mild to medium off road, but mostly dirt road and log truck trails.

Looking to spend around $1,000 to $1,200.

Local tire guy says I can put on 265/75/R16 = 32".
285/75/R16 = 33".

Suggestions on which would be the better choice.

Also I have been looking at Hankook ATM and Kumo KL78 AT.

I have ditched the idea of 17" new jeep "take off" wheels and tires, because I have not been able to find any with a decent AT tire on them.
I would rather have good tires on a 16" steel wheel, than bad tires on a nice 17" alloy wheel.

I am not impressed the the Goodyear Wrangler tires that come on stock jeeps.

The Goodyear Wranglers that came on my stock 16" steel wheels are not even worthy of paved roads, and I am afraid to take them on trails or even dirt roads.

Thank you for your time.....this is very important to me.

265/75-16 sounds good to me!

If you were going 33s, maybe 255/85-16

255/85-16s are awesome. My buddy runs the Cooper STs and they are fantastic.

not to highjack your thread...... but I'm looking for similar info on tires. Will 265/75-16 or or the 255's look ok with a 3" lift? I bought a 2007 JK with Pacer Warrior's and 315/75R16 that look way to monster truckish and want to go to 32-33's and 16x8's.

I've got 265/75-16 with no lift and they fit great.
