I've got a couple of pics of the assembly line but you can find those pics online I believe. Here is a pic of my favorite part in the plant.

I keep wondering.. 9.6 to 60 is not exactly terribly slow. Slow, but not insanely bad. That would be quite decent not that long ago. 1996 GC with 4.0 was ~10.6, not many people complained.. Scion xB is 9.8, and folks like it a good handling funny little vehicle. H3 was 10.2..

I had a big 89 Dodge RamCharger with a 360 V8, 3.22 gears with 2.72 low, 190 HP, 295 torque. 5100 lbs. 0-60...10.2 sec. 1/4 mile...18 flat. off road plenty of power. 10 miles per gallon.
Unlimited Rubi -w- less torque but better diff gears and way better lo range gears and way better gas mileage and lockers and....... I way want one! I think the 3.8 will do just fine.

I am not doubting the 3.8. Hell, mine has a 4.slow. That's not a selling point for me anyways, size is. With 3 kids even my unlimited gets cramped. I added a lap belt for a 3rd seat belt. It came with the 3rd kid. I just feel that there were better options for the new jeep. If I really want to go fast I just take my wifes Charger RT.

I'm also a tuner. I design and build turbo systems for older BMWs. I'm guessing as I don't know the particulars of the 3.8 but, a small turbo at 0.5 bar boost should be safe and add (theoretically) 50% more power. Our BMWs actually do better than theoretical power levels. The BMW engines also come stock with forged cranks and rods that safely handle 500whp... I'll have to investigate the internals of the 3.8.

No argument from me there. I'm the idiot who used to drive a 99 TJ 1000 miles a week and enjoyed it, especially tucked in behind a truck to get sucked along and save a few pennies on gas so I'm happy with 65 + speding fines are getting expensive in NY

In England I used to drive a Caterham 7 for my speed kicks 0-60 in 3.8s and a lateral G of 1.2. Hey the cheapest way to make that thing go faster was to lose weight from my own waistline. I also drove an old diesel Land Rover 110 so I do know what slow really is 0-60 well never , the black cloud stopped anyone from passing so it felt much faster.

I'd love to hear what you find in investigating the 3.8 as i'd not be adverse to more power, just for what the jeep is designed for i'm not sure it really needs it. Though not sure I'll be one of the first experimenting. But then again needs and wants are not the same thing

I drive the speed limit too. No tickets for me, thanx.

But the power wasn't there from what I could tell only on pavement though. But I just read a few more people say the same thing about lack of JK's power on a Jeep obstacle course they drove, and this was in the SWB. Forget fast, but you need some power for climbing.

Our first CRD is up on the rack and ready to be pulled in a few hours here. Hopefully we'll get to it today, if not it will be pulled tomorrow morning. I'm curious to see what flags it pulls in the system when it goes down the line. This will be new for us here, I'm getting excited.

What does getting pulled mean? Installed or removed?

a CRD would be awesome in the JK. However, if this is the same 2.8 CRD that was in the liberty then it won't be sold in the US since it won't pass EPA regulations for MY 2007 (at least that's the reason I heard it was being pulled from the Libby).

Well the CRD is halfway down the Engine Line after multiple problems, tools not fitting and the computer system not happy with it at some points

This chassis is a LHD and going overseas

Got a couple of pics I'll toss up later.

I want a CRD XK. Since the WK is getting one, the XK has got to follow. That will make a nice tow vehicle for the TJ.

I have had my last speeding ticket (not that I had many) about 14 years ago.

But on every morning commute, here in California, the whole damn highway goes around 75 - 80 minimum. They seem not to care until you approach triple digits, and I do not do that...
