I forgot to add in regards to the diesel:
Don't make it half-assed.
There has been some discussion in the WK forum in regards to the high highway RPMs with the CRD.
As far as I have been able to tell, the 3.0CRD has exactly the same transmission/drive ratios as the gasoline V6?
With the torque available from the CRD unit, it should have far taller gears to fully take advantage of that power plant, it could indeed even have taller gearing than the V8 models.
Thanks to the torque, off-road capability would not be hampered by taller gearing and highway cruising mileage should be increased greatly.

One thing that didn't appear to be mentioned- give people the wrangler with rubicon stuff but NV242. Some people (like me) live in snowy parts of the world, and they would like to shift the rig for constant 4wd. Moving the shifter back and forth from 2wd to 4part when the conditions are changing isn't nice. And I wouldn't like to blow my t-case by driving 4part on dry surface, nor wouldn't like to slide with RWD when after the road curve there is water for example. The part-time t-case is what keeps me away from buying wrangler.

Think about it.

I tthink the crowd on this forum would agree that the SRT program does not fit with the Jeep image and that while I've heard about the ORT (Off Road Technology) group being started, I would like to see that group made real and start producing ideas and impacting the Jeep products. What is going on with the ORT, is it going to happen?

And - how much would you pay for said kit ?

This will not be a cheap option !

But with almost a million TJs on the road .. Hmmmmm
If I could get on for an XJ, I'd pay whatever you guys ask!!

Because that's the way EFI works ... various operating conditions are mapped into a table that selects an appropriate amount of fuel for injection. Most people misunderstand that more power does not mean "easier to move" ... it just means more power. Fuel economy and Power are generally inversely related.

A switch to tell the ECU to use a different mapping table wouldn't be hard though - then you DO get the best of both worlds.

Or just a turbo kit from the Caliber SRT, I'll build my own Compass Rallye. What's the HP/Torque limit for a CVT2?????

Very interesting . . .

I would like to see a jeep truck. Mid or Full size, just a jeep truck.

I would also like to see a V-8 option and more gear options in the wrangler. Never enough power, someone may want to turn 44's someday.

one more thing to say. jeep has been around for ages. since the early world wars to today. i have owned 3 and all have been great 2 of wich still run. so what i am getting at is that jeep is the toughest and most durable brand out there and will hopefully always stay that way!jeep rules.

I would buy a Jeep truck for sure. I need the truck bed, but really want a Jeep

This is what Me (and most of the truck off road group would want).
  • Both 4cyl and V6 Options
  • 2 door, Extended Cab, and Crew Cab Options
  • Starting price of $15,000 for a 4cyl 2 door
  • 4x4 Standard
  • Real transfer case, no push button or switch garbage like in most trucks
  • Water resistant interior, maybe even able to be washed out with a hose?
  • SFA Option
  • Off Road Packing Including Front & Rear Lockers
  • Off Road Package includes lift over base model
  • Available fully loaded for UNDER $30,000K
  • Step Rails with dual function of Sliders, much like those that SLEE Offers

Thanks for reading!

to clarify on the on-board shower: i plumbed one up on my scrambler using a marine pump, the trans cooler in my radiator for a heat exchanger and the ability to draw water from a steam, lake or bucket. it drew a big crowd at campgrounds. hand throttle and slide bar (dorm type) shower head controlled the heat. It would get hotter than you could stand.
