You guys asked the question about why we would want a "LIFT" for the Patriot. Off-road capability would be the main reason and it would probably enhance the appearance as well.

Thank you for the feedback. How long do you use your speakers w/ the engine off before the battery dies?

Jeep Compass and Patriot...what's to like!?!?

The styling is smoother, more rounded, looks more like the old Liberty, and the Squared off Patriot just looks SO much like a brick. The Compass looks more modern, like it belongs on a freeway at 75mph, and looks like it could potentially get better fuel efficiency.

Thanks!

It's nice to shut down the gloom and doom once in a while!

In a 5spd Patriot, what are the final drive gear ratios? Looking to replace a stock 93 Cherokee with the 5spd Patriot and would still like to be able to access certian remote camping areas. Would this be a wise choice?

Do the Patriots have any provisions to run well at +10,000 feet? I only ask because I have seen very few Patriots here in the high country of Colorado.

What is the largest factory tire size that comes on a Patriot?

I really believe the Patriot would be a good addition to the Jeep family of mine. Although, from reading testimonials from owners, their desire for more power has me concerned.
1st 3.77, 2nd 2.160, 3rd 1.414, 4th 1.026, 5th 0.810, r 3.42, Final Drive 4.12 , Remember the Patriot is naturally aspirated. The Patriot does meet all on road demands at +10,000 feet. 215/65R17 is the largest tire. This is a 28" dia tire.

sorry should of been more specific. something that works in "D" automagically rather than using autostick.

No doubt the diesel would benefit some customers, depending on your usage patterns. The issue is the cost associated with meeting the regulations here in the U.S.

I guess the question we'll throw back to the MK forum is: How much would you be willing to pay for a diesel option?

I want the lift because I keep dragging the trailer hitch bike rack through waterbars on logging roads. It's purely a capability reason. The last road I was one shifted the hitch upwards by a couple degrees from hitting the rear of the bike rack (close to where a hitch ball would normally sit).

I know you can't recommend lifting it. That's why I asked what the maximum angles on the CV joints are.

sorta like the old XJs had, a "performance/comfort" switch.

BTW love our patriot! nice job guys!
We love the input and continue to work toward satisfying your wants and needs for a "performance/comfort" switch.

If you want a little extra pep you can pull the shift lever down into L and you will get a different shift schedule that give you more gear ratio. This can be done at any time / any speed and the CVT will choose the most appropriate ratio.

This depends on the fuel economy achieved. I think there would be a large market for the MK equipped with a diesel engine something along the lines of a 2.0L like what is going into the 2009 Jetta TDI. An MK that gets 30+ MPG should demand a couple $$ premium easily. Fuel economy, longevity, range, and low end torque all selling points.

A R.O.I of 2 years would easily convince me to buy a diesel. I'd use the current price of diesel vs the current price of gas and the improved milage from the diesel. I'd keep the diesel for at least 10 years. My Jimmy was 12 years old when I traded it in.

yes, I'd absolutely do the calculations if the diesel had been available in Canada.

I live in one of the RUST belts in this country. Why is there little protective undercoating (something to keep the chassis from getting chipped)?
