The 3.0L diesel will continue to be serviced quite well. Daimler still owns a portion of Chrysler. The 3.0L engine is also used in the Sprinter van. I can't address future product plans to help give you more reassurance on this question.

Hi,

why does the WK 05 questions :

-Sounds like a orquesta (sp) inside with only 10K mile son the clock? Seems Jeep didn't master the quality of parts for the interior makng them more "tight" between each other....they all sound.

Have many customers that complain about this and of corse pisss them off, as well piss me off because I have to add foam here, add some vaseline there at my own cost because this won't pass through warranty.

-Why the fron suspension makes so much noise every bump stop? they seem to colapse for being too soft? Add stiffer shocks!!!

-2008 models will be improoved the A/C slots seal? They don't seal any...either for the rear passengers, need to put a towel there to keep the air blow away from the passengers if they don't want it. Yes, even in Lo position for the blower

-Many customers complain about the a pillar for rest or support the hands there, it makes worse the visibillity (sp?) already than it is with a tight roof.

-Why the 4.7L v8 either, in XK's or WK's shut doewn or die from the nowhere and still, almost 3 years now, Chrysler can't fix this issue? Will the new 4.7L V8 have this problem...?! That's what some customers are asking me that are thingking to buy the 2008 model because they lsot their hopes to fix thsi big issue.

Thanks for your time

Cheers from Lima-PERU

-Diego

JEEP ENGINEERS: a simple solution to this is when a Jeep is first powered up and you know that by many indicates (engine temperature, etc), read the outside temperature and set the display. Then keep your other requirements in place. A simple software fix and the system will be better for this. Just a suggestion.
Thanks
Bill
We understand the concern and have addressed the concern with our dealers. Thanks for the suggestion,we continue to strive to improve our vehicles.

Any chance of the next model having a solid axle in the front? It should.

Also if I were buying a new vehicle in this class, I would be looking for mechanical options not luxury "fluff" such as lockers, gearing, and skid plates. Also I would definitely give preference to whichever model offered a manual transmission, as would a diesel option (where I didnt have to pay 40k for unneeded options, and that wasnt a Mercedes engine with no parts available).

Thanks for hearing my opinions.
While the standard "we cannot comment on future product" statement applies...

I would be remiss in not bringing up the advantages the IFS has on steering and handling. I think you'll find the IFS equiped WK will best the solid front axle WJ in most any offroad venue. Believe me we checked.

That said, the beam axle does make it easier to modify the vehicle and softens the occational contact with terrain. Can I interest you in a JK Unlimited.

Mechanical list:
....
-Make ESP defeat an EVIC option, not a short lived dash button
-Make the TPMS controller amenable to running on low pressure when offroading. Maybe have it silence warnings when in low range.
-What ever happened to DHS? I'd love to see this show up someday.
....
Thanks for your input - good list!

ESP and TPM are required by law (or soon will be). We do disable the TPM chime in low range, though the light will still be on. DHS was intended as an on-road enhancement but never made it to production because of development issues.

"Hello Bill,
Thank you for question. I understand your request and the usefulness of this feature. You are correct that this feature is available in other countries because it is a country specific requirement. We are currently investigating the feasability of enabling the U.S. dealers to activate this feature upon customer request. Stay tuned.

Thanks,

Has there been a change in the status on the DRL? I would very much like to have this feature. I have to turn the light on each time I drive but don't need the tail light and dash lights on. An information would greatly appreciated.
thanks
Bill
Hello Bill,
I just tried contacting the engineer who is working on your request from the previous session. Unfortunately, he was not available right now. All I can suggest is to keep an eye out for an upcoming change.

we have a 06 GC and the air bad light randomly goes on and off ( and dings) Any idea what could cause that? What should i do to fix it? We just don have the time to take it to the dealer not have it for a coupe days.

this might have already been said (im to lazy to read the other posts) but.....You should make a rubicon edition GC. Something with a little lift and some mud tires....maybe some e lockers and stuff.....I would buy one if you did

If you do decide to proceed on your own (Caution, Caution.), you'll need the radio, rear brow with camera, wire, i/p bezel... etc. Once it's all installed, your dealer will need to configure the FCM (front control module) for rear camera using a Starscan.

1) Is this now a dealer option, and if not, when will it be?

2) What part of the warranty would be voided and why? On the radio or on everything?

3) If I have the dealer install it (when the scan update is available) would that also void the warranty?

4) What's the i/p bezel?

Thanks again for your time.

On a prior model WK I had the EVSII security system and really liked it. Unlike other aftermarket systems, the Mopar version never once produced a false alarm, it worked flawless. I notice in the new 2008 Mopar catalog that the EVSII is not compatible with new 2008 models, probably due to the new ignition system. Will Mopar be coming out with an updated version for the 2008 models?

Plus that little problem of not being able to get 50 state legal diesels in anything other than trucks!

Anyway, when I get around to replacing this Grand, I'd really love to do it with a non-NOx spewing (read Bluetec sort of clean) Grand Cherokee. And I'd like to be able to run B100 in it without having my servicing dealer chewing me out for doing so. Can you please push with your engine suppliers (Cummins, Mercedes, whomever it may end up being) to make bio a real option for us?
Thanks for your input! We will take this into consideration on future products.

We understand the desire to run bio-fuels, and we would like to do so in the future. There are 2 main issues with using bio-diesels more than B5-B20.
1. Cold start - biodiesel fuel have significant issues with gelling
2. High pressure fuel system durability - biodiesel lubricity is not well controlled

When the fuel industry have a standard for the fuel so the lubricity and chemistry of the fuel are standardized, then we can really work on solving the remaining issues.

Just forgot to ask,

hope you don't take both posts of me in this thread bad and for being too long my questions

Just to ask if you can feel the 5.7L HEMI quite slow in reaction while you are about 5-10 MPH idling and then hit the gas pedal to whatever position, mainly half throttle or WOT...you can feel this delay in response.

For the record, the 05's HEMI's doesn't share this delay under the same situation (at least, not that notorious like the 06 and up), also the early 06's HEMI's doesn't too...I call early 06's HEMI's those that didn't get the rest arm in leather from factory, late 06's (made in that year) got the rest arm with leather.

I was looking for any update for the software for this problem but didn't find any

However this won't happen if you are idling and the Jeep it's stopped, like in a red light, you hit the gas pedal and it reacts inmediatly, no cmpliment there....but once you are about 5-10 MPH and do the same you can notice a delay. Many persons that tested these involved Jeeps felt the same and compliment about it.

Here are some pics I took from my StartScan

Is there any news on what Cummins' LDD program might be bringing to the linup other than Dakota? I've seen the engine in person and seen it in a few different non-Jeep vehicles as well? Looks like it could be a somewhat universal engine with the right base mounting? Any comments on this?

1.Yes, the Camera is a production(factory) option for 07 and beyond. However, for 2005 to 2007 it is not available through Mopar Accessories. It will be available for 2008 GC

2.Voiding warranty refers to changing wiring, lic plate brow, etc

3.If you have the dealer do (which is required because the vehicle must be programmed/told it is equipped with a back up camera)- No this should not void your warranty

4. I/P = Instrument Panel
