There is a TSB for owners who wish to have the dealer turn off ESP permanently on 2007/2008 model JK's - TSB #05-001-08. 2009 models have a method in the owner's manual.

ESP has been studied and tested by nearly every automotive company and safety organization out there and it is safer by all accounts - it will be required by law on all vehicles very soon. While you may think that you can outdrive it - you can't. It is most apparent on wet/slick roads with sudden changes in direction and speed required.

Any suggestions for quiting down the flat tappet lifters on a 4.0L? Many, including mine, tick like crazy when its cold on morning startups, for 10 seconds to a minute.

Love my '06 TJ Rubicon. Traded an '05 TJ Sport for it. In my opinion, the TJ is the last Jeep to actually look like a "jeep" so I would love to see any changes to the JK that make it look like a real "jeep".

Now along those same lines, I have always wondered why the Wrangler wasn't offered in the original "jeep" color, Olive Drab. I've seen this color (although it was gloss, obviously) on several other vehicles such as Explorers and little Nissan trucks, but never a Jeep.
We did make some flat blue and flat green 93-94' Wranglers. And they did not sell! We just dont think there would be enough sales to justify the expense.

I know that this was done because there was a demand for it but I think it was a mistake to quit making a 2 door version of the Unlimited. The 13 extra inches on the 2 door version from 2003 to 2004 made a world of difference and I personally feel that a 4 door Wrangler is nothing more than an attempt to make a fun off road vehicle an off road family car. That my friends is not what Jeep and let alone Jeep Wrangler is about. Please bring back the 2 door Unlimited like it was from 2004 to 2006 and I guarentee that they will sell like funnel cakes at a carnival.

I couldn't agree with you more. A JK version of the 04-06 Wrangler Unlimited would be absolutely amazing..... with a v8.

Is there a difference in the TJ NSG370 clutch/disc vs. the JK or KJ setup? Which one has the highest torque capacity?

Thanks again for spending your evening in the office

What? You think we do this from home in the evenings and on weekends too with our own screen names? (Apologies if my wife has hacked into your account to ask that question in an effort to get me to stop... )

All in opinions.. the 4 door is very popular.

Designs do need updating..

TJ was a 10 year production run !!

The lifetime powertrain warranty wasn't transferable, and our research showed people wanted a transferable warranty to add resale value. We had to make a desicion and if we were going to make the warranty transferable, we had to change the terms of the warranty from lifetime down to 5yr-100K.

The 1/2 door kits will be available in the next month. The cost is not yet finalized, but a pair will be in the $900 range + paint. Dual doors have been discussed, but building them in the plant is tough.

I also like the idea of a full-time 4WD & part-time lockers. I like the O/D on the auto trans "as is;" but I have 5.13s in the diff. I used a Hypertech to reset the tire size=35s & gears and the shift points seem fine to me.

I don't think engineering can make everyone happy. That's why there is a healthy after market business. I like the quality of the base vehicle.
