Based on that what steps is Jeep taking to improve the gas mileage of the Wranglers, especially considering the new Federal Emission laws that will be coming in effect?

OK a question on the TJ generation if you can - just to help me out personally...
My 2001 TJ was involved in an accident last year and both airbags deployed. Everything has been rebuilt 10 x better than before thanks to your friends at AEV, but I've still got the airbags left to do. I'd like to upgrade to the 2003-2004 style steering wheel on the drivers side... and at the same time use the Grand Cherokee's audio controls. Question is - does the airbag controller above the transmission need to be replaced AND if I put an '03+ bag in there do I need an '03+ controller and an '03+ passenger side, or is there some degree of interchangeability here? Thanks |

We do our winter testing just north of there. We usually stop to get coffee in Thompson.
Actually, there are several places in Canada that we use, depending on the season!

You need to buy the overlay kit. Mopar ? The temp sensor you see is for the NGC engine controller. AFtermarket sells a kit for like 200 bucks ?

My wife was considering a JK not too long ago to replace our Vue. One of the turn offs for her was things like the lack of a headliner. I can't recall the exact phrase she used, but it was something like "Cerberus needs to bring these things up to date." I had to laugh, then she punched me in the arm, oh well.
So I think it'd be a nice addition. Not everyone wants a "rugged" Jeep. Some people just want a fun SUV-type vehicle that still has all the creature comforts. BTW: I work at a shop across the tracks behind your 16 & Van Dyke plant, how about a job? ![]() j/k

I would recommend purchasing the Mopar hard top wiring kit- 82208907 That would make the installation of the defrost much easier.

Hey guys, I just wanted to say great job on the JK.
However, I wanted to ask a little bit about the 3.8. From what I've heard, it's a reliable engine. And I'm sure you've heard some people say it's not enough for the JK. My question is, would it be hard to put some modern technology into the engine. Like Variable valve timing, direct injection, ect? Also, what about taking the 5.7, slicing off 2 cyl. and making a V6 out of it?

Haha... well... I'm pretty sure our emissions regulations are far more relaxed... and... mpg? nobody here cares about the mpg
![]() It's the only complaint my friends have with the JK... it just doesn't climb sand like the old TJ's do. |
