THIS THREAD WILL BE OPENED TO QUESTIONS ON 9/9 @ 5PM EASTERN STANDARD TIME.
PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING
This Q/A Topic: Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited
· Direct your questions to the JeepEngineers team
· Let the JeepEngineers team supply the answers
· Keep all questions on topic and related to the Jeep Brand. Off-topic posts run the risk of being removed by forum moderators
· Limit each post to one question. This makes it a lot easier for us to manage during the session and a lot easier for readers to digest afterwards.
· Review existing posts to avoid repeat questions.
· Questions aren’t answered in order of post; you’ll need to allow some time for us to respond.
· There is no need to repost a question. At the end of the session, we check for unanswered posts. An answer will be posted in reply IF the question is on topic and is not redundant.
· If you have something to say to one another we ask that you communicate via PM or within another thread discussion.
· We can’t answer questions regarding Specific Dealer concerns or Future Products
· We’ll do our best to help, but we are not always able to diagnose specific vehicle issues over the internet

Hi All,
Thanks for the amazing product.
For my first question...
I have been hading issues with a warped header on the softop. It has developed a slight m-shape at the windshield which lets air through generating a swirly whistling sound.
What materials make-up the rigid header that would be suseptable to this. I am able to freely slip a business card unter the humps in front of each occcupant.
Cheers
Matt

Diesel upgrade package JK option
In absence of a diesel wrangler option, I would pay $4,000 extra for the current wrangler if it was offered with extra motor mounts, wiring inputs, and computer for the new 4.2 L Cummins Diesel motor or other suitable High torque diesel motor.
can you consider it
In addition here is how I value other engine options:
$40,000 = 4.2 L V6 Cummins Diesel
$35,000 = 3.5 L V6 Honda Diesel
$35,000 = 3.0 L I4 Benz Diesel
$32,000 = 2,8 L) I4 VM Diesel
$30,000 = 4.0 L V6 Phoenix Gas Engine
$15,000 = 3.5 L V6 Phoenix Gas Engine

I drive a 2005 Wrangler and it has turned out to be a very indudtrious vehicle. (My friend used it to nudge a boat over a cliff with the front bumper no problem.) Is there a reason why the newer models have fog lamps built into the bumpers instead of above like the old ones?

Emission is a real struggle right now with Uncle Sam regulations. Especially with the new 2010 regulations coming !

Really boils down to styling and aerodynamic concerns

Oh and another...since it is a slow start...
When I start up my Unlimited Sahara after at least 12 hours, I can hear a 1-3 second long subtle rattling sound that is quite remenicent of an oiling system that lags behind. Are you aware of issues with oil filtration systems draining back during non-use?

Thanks for the input - it's good to know what people are willing to pay for a diesel option, it helps with bulding any potential business case. The biggest issue is of course emissions related and what it takes to meet the standards. We are of course always examining the alternatives and gauging customer interest.

The fog lamps are in the bumper as part of a design cue. In addition if the fog lamps were located in between the flares (in front of grille) they would not meet all FMVSS requirements for visibility.

Hi Guys. I'm a 2008 JK Rubicon owner from Australia. I have asked every person I know in the industry in Australia, and can't get a straight answer to my question. I want to modify the exhaust in my JK, including the replacement of the cats - with aftermarket "hi flow" cats. My concern is that 1. May cause issues with 02 sensor warning lights. 2. Result in putting the engine in limp mode, like other modern vehicles today. Am I right with assuming these two issues? Is it safe to modify my exhaust (Headers, Hi flow cats)? Any answers from the experts would be great! Note - not sure if there is a difference in the exhaust between the US and Australian JKs?

The header is a composit plastic material. If you are experiencing wind noise take the vehicle back to the dealership and request a replacement header.

Stongly recommend NOT doing that. The catalyst and O2 sensors are indeed an integral part of the engine management system.
Some folks do change the muffler for a deeper sound...... that won't hurt, but we don't want you to modify your vehicle.
Exhaust is the same as US I am pretty sure.
