Could you describe how the Quadra Track II transfer case functions? (There isn’t a lot of info out there on how it works.) In particular does it still function as a differential in low range?

The QuadraTrac II transfer case is an NV245 and is used in the Commander and Grand Cherokee. It is the same transfer case used in the QuadraDrive II system.

In high range it has a 48/52 torque split front to rear. When slip is sensed it uses an electric motor to drive a clutch pack together which locks the front and rear driveshafts together. In low range the clutch is locked all the time.

With any new Jeep vehicle, we look at our heritage and use cues that we think represent the brand and fit that particular vehicle. Note though that the Commander is much larger than the Cherokee and features 3 rows of seating, something the Cherokee never offered, so of course it was not intended to be a direct replacement.

Do the different HVAC systems (auto vs manual)have unique ducting/doors or is the primary difference the controllers themselves?

I still cannot comment on future offerings. The CRD Commander is offered in export markets currently.

I'm not knowledgeable at all about the commander but is their a factory "non-stock" suspension lift that is offered with a certain package? (comparble to rubi TJ's and/or "going back" up-country xj's)

If an hvac controller is replaced does it need to be connected to a dealer computer to make the jeep recognize the new one?
