Some of the local experts around here think that Jeep has gone with a softer compound for its bushings and this has contributed to the shimmy issue. Do you know if the compounds for the bushings has changed to maybe try and give a softer ride on the street?
I think I have some play in the bushing on the axel end of the trackbar and was wondering what the specs would be? How much if any play should be noticed there?

Are you addressing the concerns over the plastic interior? I have seem comments on the forum regarding how easily it gets scrathed and beat up looking.

Basically, yes. The truck is a one off prototype. All kinds of small changes.
And I drove it right through the Hot Tub in MOab,, what a blast.
The Design Office guys were nervous.. but we knew it would make with no worries !

Not sure about your knocking sound my friend. I'd almost have to drive it and hear it to help. As far as the oil in your intake tube, that ususally a sign of blow-by gasses seeping past your piston rings. I'm surprised to hear that a newly rebuilt engine has that kind of problem.

Thanks for the great product and your time. Just some of my questions for the 07 JK.....
1. Any benefit or harm to 5w-30 over the recommended 5w-20?
2. Would you suggest an additional trans cooler for the auto and offroading?
3. Would 4:88 rearend really hurt mph in a 2dr auto

Which one is accurate? Is there a difference between just Nav and MyGig + Nav? I don't even know if they are available separately.

Thanks for the question. Please check www.Mopar.com Mopar performance makes a few parts for the 4.0L engine. Mopar accessories offers a Cat-back exhaust sytem. ( Any 2004- 2006 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited owners... the Mopar system has a price reduction - contact your local Jeep dealer). The Mopar performance folks are continuing to work on performance products for the 4.0L engine. Keep checking if you do not see what you are looking to purchase.

We looked at this when it was in production, the best mod you can do is open the restriction in the throttle body. Other than that how about stroking your 4.0L?

You guys are great for taking the time to do this, and Jeep is the best brand of any product ever in history!
I'd like to hear your thoughts on engine oil - conventional or full synthetic, both for late-model / low mileage and for older, high mileage vehicles.
Also, is it safe to run a lower temp. thermostat, say 180, on a 4.0L?

OK, I just gotta' say this. Today I am 70 years old. Egad. I bought my 07 JK X in March, it has 2400 mi on it. I feel like an 18 yo kid who just got his license, I find every excuse in the world to get in my Jeep and go "somewhere". I absolutely love my Jeep (first one) and it has rejuvenated me better than cialis. Well..... Anyway, I am extremely pleased the Jeep has been such a runaway good seller. And people stop me all the time and tell me how great my JK looks (Rescue GREEN). Right ON.

It should perform the same ? Kind of hard to guess without seeing/testing it. The system is a fixed orifice tube setup.
There is no stock adjustable switch.. but there might be an aftermarket one? No HEVAC engineer here tonight... I assume you are trying to keep the compressor running longer ??
|
Yes the objective is to keep the compressor running longer.. im not looking for answers tonight per se.. but if perhaps I could get in contact with someone in the future who works with the HVAC side of things I'd be delighted. my dealers dont seem to know alot about the design or why it cycles short on my vehicle.. and calling customer service of course gets me the canned response of "take it to the dealer its new and under warranty".. whereas i think this is something more of a design and I dont know its true design issue as opposed to a service issue.
of course if i run it too long I freeze it up and thats bad for the system as well as cooling.. but as it stands stock it tends to wantto cycle at engine cruise before the air at the vents gets below 52 - 53.. and I tend to run the A/C with the top down..
Normally to keep the compressor running longer Iwould add refrigerant (not a lot) however it made no difference on this system.. it just isnt behaving the way the other manufactures of vehicles do.. and this is thefirst jeep ive ever had to work on the A/C of my 4.. the rest always gave me air well into the40's at the vents (on high speed fan)..
thanks for answering my question.. and keep up the good work.. my Jeeps have by far been the best vehicles ive ever owned.
my nect vehicle will be a JK for sure

The rough idle does not sound normal. With a fully warm engine, try idling in drive for 30 seconds once before putting it in neutral to allow the fuel and air adaptives to update and see if that helps.
If the easy test above does not change the roughness, I would see if a service tech could hook up a scan tool to see if there is any misfire occurring. If there is misfire happening during the rough idle, it could be plugs, wires, coil, purge vapors, etc.
Tough to comment on the trans noise without hearing it. Check the fluid level if you haven't already.
