Sometimes when you go to accelerate there is a pause, sometimes there is no pause. A manual transmission requires excellent timing and you get better at it over time. If you never know if a pause is coming or not you can't develop this timing.
The engine calibration for ETC and manual transmissions has been optimized for KJ. It does provide some different driver feedback vs. a manual throttle control system but does provide other driveability, fuel economy, and emissions benefits.

It depends on when your KJ was built. Your Dealer should be able to tell you if the TSB applies to your vehicle. If your vehicle is included in the recall, then the torque converter is different than the one originally installed in your vehicle.

We make some basic information available to SEMA members through the SEMA website. It is not available to the general public.

JeepEngineers,
Also do you think you will ever Discontinue the Liberty for a Compass or Patriot.
My Parents Just bought a Patriot due to the way better gas milage vs the liberty.
Or Would you ever offer a Liberty in a 4 cylinder?

Again, we're focusing this particular Q&A event on KJ. As with all of our products, we are always evaluating improvements if there are issues.

I have some comments about the 08 KK if you care to hear them.

- I know interiors are a sore spot right now, but if the KK's closedly matches the Nitro's, it needs fixing.

- If the driver's footwell is the same dimensions as the Nitro, it is really too cramped.

- I wish the auto trans was something more impressive than the 42RLE. Other powertrain options besides the known t-case options would be nice too.

- Get rid of the rear load floor gimmicks. My own opinion, they are not that useful and just create the perception that they are taking up space in the rear cargo area. This was one of my issues with the Commander too--3rd row was not that useful, and just took up cargo space otherwise.

- Please have Mopar come up with a front winch mount for it; other niceities would be Mopar rock rails, bumpers, skid plates, etc.

- Put the Sky View on other Jeeps! It's awesome

Driving in OD is generally best practice and requires the least driver interaction. Driving in any manually selectable gear is really driver preference and may minimize business but at the possible expense of fuel economy.

We are sorry, but we can not discuss future product. Also, the Liberty was offered with 2.4L from 2002-2004.

What gives, Al Pioquinto
We are trying to focus this Q&A event on KJ specific questions/issues. However, we would recommend sticking with the recommendations in the owner's manual, as this is what your vehicle is designed for.

Of course the 2007 Grand Cherokee diesel is arriving at dealerships now. 376 lb-ft of torque and 20 mpg city/24 mpg highway for the 4x4.

Sorry, we can't discuss future product plans during this forum, but thanks for your interest in diesels!

Once in a while if I floor the auto Liberty, the rpm's will jump up to 5500 rpm or so, but always short of redline. Is this harmful?

I just can't help it sometimes.
