I have to ask, becuase someone will.

Are there any plans to use either the 2.8 CRD in use in export JK's or the new 3.0 in the 07WK in the JK for domestic sales?

There is a tone ring on the end of each axle. The tone wheel has 52 teeth per ring the information from each wheel speed sensor is sent to the ABS modual. This information is converted from a analog signal to digital signal and the message is sent out on a CAN Bus line to the cluster and engine controller.

Just wondering if Jeep ever thought about lengthening the link arms on something like the Rubicon straight from the factory? I mean, it came with a bunch of great offroad components only to be limited by short arms. Also, what actually dictates the length of the factory arm? Street handling? Safety? Ease of production? Thanks again for being here...

Edit: man, in the time it took me to type this about 4-5 others asked questions already...
Well, the arms on JK are slightly longer than what we offered on TJ, if that helps at all. We are somewhat limited as to what we can offer off-road wise "out of the box". As you mentioned there are many safety and handling requirements that we have to stick with to sell a main-stream SUV. That's basically why the vehicle is set up the way it is.

How much freedom do engineers recieve in desigining a vehicle?

What do you especially like/dislike about the JK?

If you could design the vehicle without any constraint what would be different?

BTW Thanks for being here to answer our questions.

Charlie,

Generally we don't put any part numbers in the service literature other than TSB's. Our computer systems have "supercerdence" built into them and whenever an older part number is entered into the dealer systems, it automatically shows the current part number. Part number changes are driven by our need to be able to track the performance of an individual part, not only from sales but warranty performance.

Is that the same as the WJ tone rings? I thought the WJ's has 48 teeth

What drove the switch from the straight 6 in the wranglers? The performance gains are slight when looking at the numbers.

back seat access in 2 door

Getting in and out of the back of the new two door JK was really difficult. Much tougher than with my 2000 TJ--the JK seat didn't come all the way forward like my TJ. JK forum guys said this just how it is. Are you going to address this in 2008? Is there a way to fix it for a 2007? Thanks, from Utah.

Can you give any idea how much it will cost to buy a set of half doors for the JK Sahara I already have? And if you can buy them after the fact, do they come painted, or do you have to get them painted, and IF SO, does the price reflect painting by the local dealer or what?

Frank,

We hear you - just remember that we are always evaluating alternate materials for future products/changes.
