My wife wants to know why the passenger floor heater is so much hotter than the drivers side. She has to tuck her feet back under her seat to keep her toes from burning....while I am quite comfortable. We are wondering if there is a deflector or a diffuser that could be put in place to fix this issue.

The chirp doesn't continue, it only happens one time for each time I tap the gas. Only happens in gear. Sounds like rubber is making the noise, like something twisting from the torque. Only related to pushing the gas pedal, it isn't a continual noise like a u-joint might make.

Have you heard of this before?

Jeff

PS: and thanks for the link to the Dodge frame modifications, looks like it will be helpful for my project.
?? Is it in the engine or drivetrain ? noise under the vehicle ?

Hard to tell over the inter! but it sounds likea engine droan caused by the high load of overdrive and the low engine speed of 1200 rpm. It seems that the trans should shift at 1400 or so. But I would ask the dealer and compare your vehicle to others - I really can't give an accurate answer here.

As for gear clash while shifting gears.. don't shift too fast... give the syncros time to match up. Of course, the syncros could be worn..
Thanks I'm not sure what the previous owner put my jeep through, hopefully he wasn't trying to shift it like a sports car!

Problem is intermittent, and even when shifting slowly the shifter sometimes jumps in my hand (happens when the shifter is moving from Neutral to 2nd). I'll try double clutching my upshifts, then if the problem is gone, I have worn syncros right?

If it's still there, do you have any ideas what else it might be?

I would like to ask about the outside temperature in a different situation.

When I have been on full day off roading trails (like the Canyon de Chelly Jeep Jamboree) and spend the entire day running less the like 15 mph, the temperature doesn't ever change. In the afternoon, when it was clearly like 70 degrees outside, the display still showed something silly like 45 degrees which was the temperature in the morning when we started.

Can you guys correct the programming to sense the temperature all the time when in 4 wheel drive?

OH.. you're talking about it popping out of gear, right ? There was a TSB to help address this. BUT< not sure it would be covered now?

Bet its a violent pop out event, right ???

The Rubicon continues to be very popular and we're doing everything we can to meet demand, especially this year. We very much appreciate your interest and hope you'll continue to be patient. The Rubi will not disappoint you ! Thank-you !

I recently purchased an 08 unlimited with the freedom top. Did you guys experiment with deferent types of tops and the chose that one, or was this the only one on the drawing board and you were just perfecting it? Did you concider a 5 for the unlimited to give more removal options or no?

Because I'm interested in buying the JK as soon as it comes with a diesel, and a 5 piece hard top would be nice as well

There are different thresholds for the Rubicon tires, but we can't possibly plan for every tire combination. Again, we have to meet the legislation as the vehicle is built.

We did change the operation in low range such that it only chimes once on start up.

We do understand the dilema and wish we could do more.

I was wheeling in my 98 TJ when all of a sudden the tcase popped out of 4 low with a loud thud. Now, the 4wd light doesnt come on. There's no noise comming from the tcase, yolks, ujoints, or driveshaft. Everything seems fine
except the light. What would be the first thing you guys would suspect?

p.s. thanks for taking time to talk with us.

This is not a known problem. my only advice is to create your own outlet cover to suit your comfort level. Sorry!

I have a 2dr 08 X model with an auto transmission. Twice, I've heard a ding / chime with no other indication of something wrong. It happened once while turning right @ ~10mph and another time traveling at a constant 45mph. The dealer says no codes have been set.... What do you think?

Assuming that it's not the driver or passenger's body odor, can you guys comment on this? What's burning off to produce the smell?
Without smelling it, it could be a lot of things...some thoughts:

Many new parts have various coatings on them to protect them in shipment from the supplier to our factory. Given time and exposure to heat (if a part is near the exhaust for example) the coating cures or dissipates, which may explain why it goes away after a bit of use, just like the way that "new car smell" goes away after time.

It could be a misrouted axle vent tube that is too close to some body opening.

It could be mold in the air conditioner, though not likely.

There are some folks here in the room that suggest some odors can come in throught the shift boot, more so with a manual.

Good luck!
