The light is actuated by the lever actually being in the 4wd position. You may not have 4wd, even though the lever is in 4wd. Take it to a competent mechanic.

Not engine. Sounds like it is coming from the vicinity of the bellhousing, but that's hard to tell. But not an axle-related noise, coming from the center of the vehicle. Engine mount? Trans mount? What else would twist when you step on the gas and make a rubber-like chirp?

Well the gear is just beginning to engage (moving from N to 2), so i'm not sure if that would constitute 'popping out'. I wouldn't call it violent, but enough to feel. If I pause my shift for a second it just slips into gear like nothing happened.

I have the 7 year powertrain warranty, so I believe it may still be covered, but i'd rather fix it myself if possible.

I say take it to youyr dealer.. use the warrenty. They might just swap the trans !

I would look at the TPM (tire pressure monitor) will ding and not set a code I would recommend that the dealer make sure the WCM antenna is properly routed in front of the shifter ,,,,there is a TSB on the antenna routing

Just out of curiosity, what departments or sections of the jeep do you guys work on? Like, are some of you in the room engine or tranny or suspension engineers or do you all wear all of the hats?

Driving a Wrangler makes going to work feel like you're going camping.

Several areas.. PR , Vehicle Development.. Mopar Jeep Performance, Electrcal, powertrain.

Sorry, But we don't have ready access to the laws in your state, so I can't answer that question. The engine would be a great project to build, but if you are going to use it on the street, check with your local DMV first about registering it!
