That is awesome... I slept in the back of the ZJ twice on trips. Both times it was raining so all my tools, spare tire and 35 shafts were back there. Not comfortable at all. I did fit me and another back there pretty comfortabley without all that for a few hours though

What do you guys think of the Rola roof rack or the valley one?

After that though the ride has been perfect, flawless... gotta love those little old ladies and the 1 mile trip down the road to church on sundays.

back on topic im going to say something totally uncalled for. Yes im going to say it, and your all going to make fun of me for it. But PEPBOYS have a roof rack for 70 bucks, yup... i went in there the other day, i try to avoid it, but i did go in there because my local napa decided to close early for some reason. It didn't look back either, I would try and find it on their website, but their website is crap, and i can't seem to figure out where their products are. It looks like a mock Yakima road warrior, Except its not so much a basket as there is larger gaps, but for larger bags/gear it might not be bad. I just dont know how much i'd trust it for holding weight.

I wouldn't recommend putting the spare tire on the roof. A rear tire carrier would be a much better approach.

Why you shouldn't:
More difficult to get to if you need to use it.
Lowers mpg by a few miles.
Creates an even more top heavy center of gravity.
Its a 2wd Auto with the I6 and itt is a Jeep, wasn't really expecting great gas mileage. Its just a mall crawler; so it has tiny little street shoes and probably the only off road it will see is when i have to park in the grass.

I haven't seen a rear tire carier... haven't really looked either...

I'm thinking 2" BB just for the heck of it.

I as well am interested in seeing different roof racks. I don't necessarily need the basket type... but something to hold the high lift and such.

I just took a piece of steel lengthwise, bolted it to each of the racks....drilled a hole in said piece of steel and welded on a bar where the middle of the wheel goes through, drilled a hole in the bar for a lock (the wheel cant fit over the trailer lock)...and ta-da!

Front of Jeep

__________ Roof rack
| |
| o | Bar with a hole for the pole/rod thingy
| |
__________ rear roof rack

Basically, the same setup inside, just vertical with a lock...the lil cone thing keeps it centered and still...no problems and going on 2 years...
