ZJ HP30 build ?'s

Im rebuilding an 88XJ HP30 for my ZJ. Im gonna do a WJ brake and knuckle swap on it as well. Id like to do a high steer too. It'll be on 35's, locked with 4.56's.

Im asking for a parts list what im gonna need, more so what im gonna need for that high steer business.

This is whats on my list so far.

WJ knuckles
2002-2004 WJ brake calipers
JKS spacers
IRO Almost Alloy kit
I was gonna run XJ axle shafts. I heard that 1995+ XJ safts will hold a bigger Ujoint?
I was thinking about getting a WJ drag link and sleeving it but Id like A heavy tierod. I dont wanna spend too much on one is it tough to make one yourself?

I'm planning this exact same swap, except probably a 95+ hp30, swapping out wj knuckle and brakes in the hp then swapping that whole thing in. Seems fairly simple, but I'll keep an eye on this thread. Maybe we could help eachother out Riot.

i'd like to do the swap too, i have no infos (so unluckily i can't help) but, as you said, i'll keep an eye here too.

I am planning the same swap in the future. Are you guys planning on trussing or otherwise reinforcing the HP30 in anyway?

Yeah im gonna build a simple truss for it. Artec recently released on you can buy but Im just gonna make my own im thinking. Im running a Artec truss on my 8.8 and love it!

Word. I like the older hp's. The ones with the vac disco have uber heavy upper CA mounts instead of that thin ****. I have to get the proper seals though for the disco bypass

Im more worried about the innerds not so much the tubes bending as Im not THAT hard on it. But definetly going to reinforce my C's at least. I want to keep my weak point away from my differential. Im hoping to break a Ujoint or axle shaft before I **** up my R&P.

I hear ya. I plan on running the same setup with 4.56 and 35"s when that time comes. I'm pretty easy on the skinny though so I'm not too worried about it.

Oh gotcha, that sounds like a good option if you can seal it properly, I might try that direction. Where you getting the seals?

Strip it to the tubes and rebuild it with new, you'll be cutting a lot off to put the truss on anyways. New brake stuff is cheap and no point in running used, anything gear related should be new, aftermarket mounts are cheap and beefier than stock. Used shaft are fine once you put all new joints in them.

For brakes it depends on the core if I were you I'd buy jy calipers to get the core back and have new calipers because they are only like 30 at autozone ect. For brand new but the core charge is quite expensive
