Well, you have a black jeep so it makes it blend better.

I still don't like that look. Nothing against you or your jeep but that look just doesn't appeal to me on a ZJ. I'd take a smoked lens before I'd take black housings. But both detract from light output.

I just feel like the chrome blends better. I don't think a projector is ever going to look "at home" on a ZJ, so my goal was to minimize their "out of place" look.

I had a problem with the color flicker not showing up well on my passenger side. I reopened the headlight and diagnosed that the cutoff shield needed some tweaking. Later found it that the beam pattery was being affected. No matter, all is well now. Here is a new cutoff pic and a high/low comparison. On the cutoff pic, the pass side light has way better color than the picture shows but the driver's side light washes it out some. If you stand in front of the driver's projector, the color is every bit as brilliant on both sides.

I love these lights!

What sort of tweaking did the cutoff shield need? Also, where did you end up mounting the ballasts?

I had to move move it forward and backward until both the pattern and color flicker were perfect. No big deal easy to do.

I mounted the ballasts in the sheet metal pocket below the bumper light. There's tons of room back there once u take the GOR off.

After accepting some criticism from others, I had to agree, my shrouds were too small for the headlights. Thanks to a generous donation from Matt at TRS, I decided to swap them out for full size gatlings. I also moved the halos to the inside of the shroud for a sleeker look. Attached are the results. I also attached one of my old shroud photos for comparison.

And the old shrouds here.

Where are the full size gatlings from? Will have to look to see if they were offered in the kit posted.

Same place I got all the other stuff - TheRetrofitSource.com. If u buy them from anywhere else, they are probably just getting them from TRS anyways.

I know the full-size gats aren't an option in the kit. My recommendation would be to hit up Matt at TRS and see if he can work u a deal. He has taken pretty good care of me!

BTW. Something I forgot to mention. The bigger shrouds required just a tiny tiny bit of trimming to fit the housings.

Contact Matt directly. His email is Matt@theretrofitsource.com. You can also hit him up in this same thread over at HIDPlanet.com.

I don't mind you referencing this thread.

Those look great. I am not a fan of the angry eyes but with those huge shrouds looking like eyes I would definitely do it. Maybe even use the silver 3m tape to match the paint. Over all I think this is a good look.

Good start. That is definitely the correct style headlight.

Next step is to put it in the oven for 10 minutes at 275*F. I found it easiest to use an ordinary butter knife and pry on the bottom of the headlight. Once the lens begins to separate, just use your hands. Try to pry only forward and back, not side to side. This will minimize the amount of unsightly adhesive that gets on the reflector surface. Oh, and wear mechanix gloves!

Good luck!
