I'd just like a list of part numbers and locations to buy.

^ x2. Very nice! I would like to go for a smoked look on the reflector. I also would skip the halos. I also wanted to confirm, you are using the plastic headlight lens?

If u need ballasts - $270: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...roducts_id=227

If u don't - $145 (after adding bulbs): http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...oducts_id=3181 (make sure to add bulbs on this one)

Shrouds are included on both kits. The kit with ballasts (first link) includes a relay harness. The second link doesn't.

Halos - $55: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...ducts_id=14906

Housings - $64 - http://www.ebay.com/itm/JEEP-93-98-G...f8ed3d&vxp=mtr

Add up the appropriate amounts based on what u want. Figure a few dollars here and the for hardware and 5-minute epoxy.

Bear in mind that your best bang for your buck is to add the options in the drop down boxes for the projectors. TRS gives substantial discounts if you do it this way. For example, in the second link, adding bulb only costs $25. If u buy bulbs alone, they cost $50.

So lets do opposite ends of the extreme. If u already have ballasts and don't want halos, you're looking at $209 out the door.

If u need ballasts and want halos, your looking at $389. It's actually $384 if u add the halos to the first link as TRS gives a $5 discount by doing it that way.

Good luck!

Go for it. And post pictures.

Almost every ZJ retro I have seen to this point paints the reflectors black. Quite honestly, I didn't find it appealing. Looks kinda rice to me. Doing a retro on a ZJ, I think it's impossible for it to NOT look rice, so I chose to minimize the rice. So I left it all chrome.

From what I could find on the net, this is one of like 5 ZJ retrofits with pics. So there wasn't much to go off of. I guess I figured that if I left it chrome and didn't like it, I could always paint it later. The opposite isn't true.

Yes, I am using the plastic lens. If u can figure out a way to get the glass lens lights apart, please post back. I sure as hell couldn't!

Thanks for the inspiration! I may try to tackle this if/when I get my tax return. Would you happen to have a part number for the silicone washer/part you picked up from the hardware store? From your description, I got a bit confused on where the hardware store piece was placed. I would need the ballasts, no halos, so I am thinking this project may cost me ~$300 (which would run me the same as the e-codes).

Oh! And which bulbs did you go with? 3000K, 4300K, etc.?

The silicone washer comes with the MH1 kit. There are actually two silicone washers - a big one and a small one. U use the small one.

I don't have a part number for the machine bushing. I just waded through the bins at the local hardware store. Just look for a 7/8" inside diameter x 1-3/8" outside diameter x 14 gauge thick machine bushing. If u can't find that, just look for a 3/4" or 7/8" washer that fits the threaded stem of the projector snug. I actually bought some washers as a backup plan but felt the machine bushing was cleaner and easier. Total cost for two is under a buck.

So u stick the projector through the hole, slide on the included silicone washer, then the machine bushing/washer, and finally tighten it all down with the included nut.

Actually those aren't too bad. When u said reflector, I thought u meant the black painted housings. I kinda like the smoked lens. However, two things to keep in mind.

First, the smoke lens will detract slightly from the light about. Frankly the light output is so ridiculous that it probably wouldn't matter but it is kinda counter productive on a mod to increase light output huh? And no, don't think u will compensate by using 55w ballasts. It was a tidbit I posted earlier that many may have missed but TRS recommends against using 55w ballasts in these projectors. So small u could bubble the chrome off the bowl.

Second, and less important, those smoked lenses are gonna look retarded unless u get the smoked bumper and corner lights IMHO. If u wanna go that route, figure another some more money in ur project budget.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1993-1998-JE...38fb99&vxp=mtr

Or u could buy the whole kit for about $45 more than the headlights alone.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1993-1998-JE...99e28c&vxp=mtr

Do the math, cheaper to buy them separate.

Good points, looks like I will stick to picking up another set of "OE" housings. They can be had for ~$20-25 on eBay anyway. When I get closer to making the purchase I will shoot you a PM. With the link you posted earlier (full kit with ballasts), it only gives the option for 35w ballasts. This is the kit I will get - http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...roducts_id=227

Just unsure on the temperature I should go with. Thinking the latter of 4300K?

OE housings? They need to have the clear lens. The OE housings all have a fluted lens. They will mess with the cutoff. Just make sure u get a clear lens.

Yes go with 4300k. In projectors, color temp has a much smaller effect than people think. The only time u see any color difference is right at the cutoff. S go with 4300k as they offer the most light output.
