ZJ Budget SYE info?

Hello everyone,

I have been searching everywhere for information on ZJ SYE's and I can't seem to find much at all for this application specifically! I am looing at the RE hack and tap for my NP242 TC, but good solid info would be really helpful. I read about XJ's using front DS's in their rears, that sounded like a budget plan but would it work for a ZJ? In short, if anyone can help me with info on good SYE options please let me know. Also, I am running the Rancho 3" lift currently on my 97 ZJ, Auto Tranny.

That is impressive, $349 isn't too bad for the full setup including the custom DS. Does the front DS have to be re-done as well?

I just did the IRO hack n tap on my 242 in my WJ. Easy to do, took 1.5 to complete. $119 plus $20 in bits and taps. I am getting my DS from Carolina for $188 so total cost is going to be jut over $300 for a SYE with a double cardan - single DS.

Check out my build thread for pics of it. DS comes tomorrow.

Well it seems that I can handle the rear shaft, but is there anything that needs to be done with the front one, I havent heard of anything before.

if you have CVs at both ends you may need to swap out the yokes on teh dif and the TC. The TC is easy, the diff is a bit harder and can lead to issues if not done correctly.

Both of mine are U-joints I think, with a booted slip yoke.
