ZJ On Board Air Question

This will be some time in the future because i just dropped a bunch on a lift and tires but I have a question about on board air systems. I plan on going with an ARB air locker in front. Where's the best/cheapest place to buy that locker new (i'll still be checking JF classifieds and Craigslist) and what's the best compressor to use for that? Also I'd like to be able to use the compressor to fill up tires and use an air tool if i really need to. Anyone running that kind of set up?

The ARB compressor can run the locker and air up tires.

Is that the best/cheapest compressor out there?

One of the best but certainly not the cheapest.

To use the ARB compressor for other things it might be best to also have an air storage tank mounted. It may not run air tools on its own duty cycle.

Yea or they have the new twin air compressor that doesn't need a tank to constantly run air tools. Is the ARB locker the best route to go for an on demand locker? I don't want my front axle locked when i'm driving to school and work but need it on the trail. Also are the compressors noisy? Doesn't bother me but just curious. I had an airbag rear towing suspension on my F150 and you could hear it when the compressor was on but it hardly came on. And the compressor isn't constantly running when the locker is on right? Just fills up then you're good?

It just uses the compressor to engage the locker, as long as there isn't a leak it shouldn't come on very often.

If you don't want/use your ac, you could turn the compressor into an oba system that will work better than and aftermarket compressor ever could.

Check these out if your interested:

I'm gonna do it pretty soon because I hate using my ac anyways (even though I'm in AZ lol)

Yea i would definitely do that if it was a trail rig only but it's my DD so i kinda need it. Even though i don't use it very often, still couldn't delete it.

Good info though, thanks.

I didn't realize you have a 5.9, I definitely wouldn't do it to a 5.9 lol.

Mine is my dd but I would rather have the oba and just open my windows (like I do anyways) but that's just me.

Yea i try to use AC the least amount possible. I've had my ZJ a month and only turned it on once to make sure it blows cold. But i still wouldn't feel comfortable taking out AC. On another note, lift should be here in a week or two, so stoked.
