zj bad shift/stalling problem

when im driving my 5.2 has the tendency to not want to shift, 1st to 3rd the tranny runs until 2500 - 3000 rpm and struggles for about a second or two before shifting... when im going 3rd to 4th it just wont change gears, itll stay at 3000 and ill have to let up off the gas and feather it until it changes decides to shift.

it also started to stall when i come to a stop. if im in park or neutral it idles fine and doesnt stall, but once i put it into drive, it will idle fine for a bit then it'll drop to about 300 rpm. it has no problem with spitting or sputtering when im driving.

i would give the throttle valve cable a good look over. Find where it is connected to the tranny and be sure the spring is still there.

Here is a good article with detailed pics, it's not for a Jeep, but a Dodge is close enough.
