With that much power and size of tire you're going to want a full 1-ton axle. D60's or the equivelant. There are several manufacturers of D60 axles out there that are already built up (a regular google search should find those pretty easily).

On a Uni-body vehicle, one without a true frame, it is pretty useless to hang heavy axles on the uni-frame. Heavy axles with a strong motor will pretty much rip the control arms mounts from the body unless you can really beef up the mount areas.

He'll have a subframe that he'll be hanging them off of with Claytons

Still there is some truth to that - the unibody will flex (especially on a ZJ) and would be wise to stiffen it up some more.
