Thanks, buying a ram unit today hopefully.

Picked my trans up on sat, came with the 231d hd, its isl, is it worth using? I noticed it doesnt have the speedo on the tail shaft, will a sye fix that? Or should i just pick up a jeep tcase? The 249 im replacing is also isl, the tail shaft swappable maybe?

i drove around on the stock pcm just fine for about 2 weeks before i got my manual one in, it works and drive ok, but like he said, on decel and flares on shifts its funny, plus CEL is on, i got a 98 dakota unit, make sure the one you buy has cruise control otherwise yours wont work, also the other huge difference is the a/c, dakotas and zj have flipped triggers for the a/c command on, because the zj has a bcm and dakota doesnt, one needs a ground and one needs a power, a simple relay wired up to flip it will work fine

Cool thanks for the info.

I went ahead and ordered a new flywheel, same price with shipping as my local yards charge. I need the bolts from the dealer, what about a shim or ring gear? Rockauto has a .25 an .5 inch shim listed

ring gear is part of the flywheel, never seen shims on any part of the clutch or flywheel.

Thanks, i think the shims might be available in case you turn your used flywheel and then need to compensate.

Just a lil somethIn i noticed yesterday, my auto tranny, od and 249 measures 3 ft 8.5 inches in total length, exactly the same as my soon to be installed dakota nv3500 which came with a 231hd. I might dodge needing new driveshafts

the rear output on the 231d is longer, rear will probably fit, front most likely will be short.

the dakota nv3500 is about 3" shorter than the 44re.

All the local stores had it, rock auto had it, summit had it.

Is the NV3500 strong enough for the 5.2? I assume is?

Considering that's what it was built for.

No no I don't mean that I mean once you are done. the shifter fits in the same place like an AX-15 would because I saw someone who used another trans and they had to hack up there center console
