Are you Sirius?

Does anyone know if the Sirius receiver can be added to a 2002 Overland? I have read conflicting reports. Even the parts guy at my local Jeep dealer says 03 and up. I know someone out there has the real answer. Thanks.

Do you mean an aftermarket radio/tuner which is Sirius ready?
Yes, one can be installed.

A Sirius Plug & Play, such as the Sporster can be installed in anything (including a Model-T) so a Jeep is not problem.

The dealer is probably talking about the factory/dealer installed Sirius radio.
Sirius Satellite Radio
"The Sirius Satellite Radio system can be added to any 2002-2004 factory radios that have the "Mode" button. It can also be installed in 1999-2001 Grand Cherokees if a 2002-up radio is used."

I want to install the Jeep receiver that goes in the back behind the CD changer. Like I said before, there are conflicting reports out there and I can't seem to get a definite answer. Does anybody know for sure if this can be installed in a 2002 WJ?
Thanks,

Thanks for replying. I've read all that same stuff before but all the vendors I can find have it listed as 2003 and up. Has anyone actually installed one in a 2002? I don't know why it wouldn't work.

I found out that Jeep started offering Sirius as an upgrade in 2003. That explains why all the ads I see are for 03-04 but wouldn't it still work on my 02? I have the radio with a CD and tape and it has the mode button. Alright, this will be my last post about this. Either no one truly knows the answer or just not interested in replying.

Thanks,

If you have a mode button, it should work.

I am seriously XM, Roady II that is. I would go with aftermarket and upgrade as the hardware gets better. I have upgraded once already. I would never go without XM anymore.
