When you drive with the radio off because either

A: You love how your jeep sounds
or
B: You're listening for something to go wrong

On my Road Trip yesterday, I had the radio down. I just had a feeling something might break, it was the road...

What's the reason for wanting a 160 in the first place?
Probly shoulda mentioned it was for work, pulling a trailer all day every day up and down the coast.

Clutch probly shoulda been the first thing replaced!

replaced the clutch, still runs hot. got up to 230 on the freeway. i dont know what the **** else it could be. and check engine light came on, code 32, egr system malfunction. could that have something to do with it?

You did replace the water pump right? What about completely flushing the old system. That was my problem.

in February, i replaced most of the cooling system. i put in a new radiator (single row chinese POS that killed my motor), new water pump, new 180* t stat, new stant rad cap, and new hoses. ever since then, it has always ran a little hotter than i want it.
funny thing is, before i did all that, it never ran hot. at all. the only reason i did all that was because the radiator had a very small leak at the bottom.
the temp never got above 210, even when i towed a 6000lb trailer in 95* desert heat.

i know it was running hot because of the single row rad, didnt have the cooling capacity. thats what killed my motor. after i rebuilt the top end, i put in this CSF 3 row, all metal. its the most heavy duty rad i could find.

Have you taken an IR temp gun to the t-stat housing to confirm that the gauge is accurate? It's possible that it's reading hotter than it really is.

My 96 has a standard fan clutch, the one on my dads 97 has a heavy duty one. It's constantly sounding like a jet engine when you nail the gas.

The 97 does run cooler than my 96. Both 5.2s

heres an idea

sometime right before i messed with the cooling system, i did the 703 injector swap. now according to zander21510's injector swap thread, the 703 injector flows 21.5lb/hr at 39psi. the stock 1995 5.2 injector flows 24.6lb/hr at 39psi. so im thinking that because the 703s flow less fuel, its running the engine leaner, thus causing my hot running condition. am i on the right track here?

Try your old injectors and see. Could be extremely possibly. Has your MPG changed any? If that fixes your problem, ill buy them injectors from ya.
