IFS/IRS are better designed for street applications and that includes most dirt roads. You will have more rubber on the ground in a Patriot driving over washboard roads than you would a ZJ or any solid axle Jeep for that matter. I think the interior would rattle apart on both vehicles though but hey that's just one of those Jeep things.

You know you drive a ZJ when you think about your truck and why it has a 1 inch lift but doesnt have the upcountry package.

Build sheet indicates otherwise.

When you want to climb those embankments on the left and right side of the road just for fun and no other reason

The patriots biggest problem for sure is the suspension though.

Sent from my couch using JeepForum app
I'm talking about factory ground clearance, champ. Which sucks on both the ZJ and the Patriot.

Alright guys this is a you know you drive a zj when... Not a debate. So how about, "you know you drive a zj when your miles to empty says 330 but you know it's not going to be that good." It's not perfect but it's a start.

You know you drive a ZJ when it says you have low washer fluid, but there's still loads in it.

You know you drive a ZJ when the you're the only twin-solid-axle Jeepers who can still recognize the capability of newer Jeeps. XJ owners are the worst, let me tell you.

ZJ's great, and it's totally the Grand pappy of the modern Jeeps, including and especially the WK2, which will outperform any stock ZJ in any given conditions, including on road comfort and fuel economy. Not to mention, I actually like the new Cherokee. Sue me.

Not in all conditions. Don't forget that it's a good bit bigger and 1k lbs heavier, which presents a disadvantage in certain conditions. It's much comfier, but it does handle worse due to the extra weight, soft suspension, etc. The WK2 SRT8 is slower and turns in worse skidpad numbers than the WK SRT8, primarily because it's 500+ lbs heavier.

I could think of much worse Jeep owners
