I was following a hatchback civic once, like 7 years ago, in my 1990 Cherokee. He was like half a mile ahead of me but here I come over a hill and there he was. I locked the brakes up and ending up rear ending him contacting my front left with his rear right. Well when we pulled over and I got to looking at the jeep. Looked like I hit a pole in a parking lot doing 15, not slidding into some ricer from 55. Was probably going slower than that at the time of impact but I wasn't looking down when I hit him. His car was totalled though. I pushed 1/3 of the rear of his car in until I hit tire. Well he wanted me to say that his friend was driving, who showed up after the fact, to the cop who shows up like 45 minutes after I call dispatch. Well I wasn't lieing to an Leo in his behalf so I told the truth. This guy ended up getting 5 tickets to my one. The cop didn't even want to give me one but he had to since it was my fault. The other guy got one for improper lighting, no license, no insurance, bald tires, and failure to communicate properly(could barely see through his smoked out lights).

So the moral of the story.....jeeps rock, ricers suck. Oh and don't lie to a cop and get caught or you will have your tail handed to you on a silver platter.

Luckily, I haven't been in a bad accident in the Jeep. My last truck though, '97 ram, was a different story. In the two years I had it, I was rear ended twice. Once by an older man in a grand caravan that was leaned over to pick up his handicapped tag and once by a girl doing her makeup in a new civic. Both times I pulled out of the street with a grill stuck on my hitch

maybe if someone convinces them that having the extra chunk of rubber between the gas tank and the point of impact will be safer, we will all get factory tire carriers

wishful thinking, right?

Chrysler isn't doing the campaign with WJs, insisting they're safe.

I think this is ridiculous, though. In 20 years, out of 3 million vehicles, 51 recorded fireball accidents have happened. That's not a bad design, that's some really bad accidents that you call outliers. Chrysler's being backed into a corner and forced to pay money to prevent a public outcry from people who don't understand. You can bet this cost is going to be sent right to the new models.

If I didn't have a hitch, I'd go in and have them put one on, because I'm self-serving, but I have an OE hitch, so I'm not gonna screw with it.

I'm gonna ask them if there's any way I can get a gas tank skid out of it. Probably not, but it's worth a try. If they included the WJs, I'd get a hitch for my mom's to up the resale value a little, but oh well.

Heared that wjs will be inspected and nothing else but we will Probly have to pay for it since it's out of the 10 years

Recall=free for vehicle owners, paid for by manufacturer. No? What's ten years have to do with anything?

Fox got it wrong. ABC, NBC, CBS, and USA Today all say WJs are excluded.

They don't have to pay for it of it's 10 years old they could Probly put a recall out and you'd get a discount but I doubt it'll be free if it's over 10 years old

Then what's the point of the recall? Lol. And motor trend also said it included wj's...odd. Guess all these little details will be worked out in the coming days. I don't really care as I know my jeep is perfectly safe
