Without arguing semantics, there was a limit on engine size under 5.0 liters for some racing class that escapes me at the moment. Ford had the 302 as did Pontiac, and Chevy had the 305. All were marketed as 5.0's, when they were all a shade under 5.0.

Many many people have been a victim of a marketing campaign that made you believe the motors were 5.0 liters.

Yeah the 300 I6 is the one. I have never been a fan of the 5.0 (or 302), it is just doesn't live up to the hype.

I've always been a fan of Ford's I6's and I6's in general.

It was trans am. And actually gm had a 302 as well, arguably the best small block ever until the ls engine, but could only be had in 1st gen z28 camaros. They could sing.

Can't remember which way it was but I think they where a 283 crank in a 327 block, but could be the other way around. They redlined at like 7500 from the factory.

I6 by design is a torque making machine, v8 is for Hp. Hp=torque x rpm. I6 do not like high rpm, v8s, unless large do not make low rpm torque. This is why 99% of diesels are i6, and 99% of race cars are v8. Personally I can't live without the sound of a v8, but low rpm i6 is better.

No 6 has the tone of a 8 without big headers and a cam. The v8s have a lobe sound to them. I like my i6 sound with a loud flowmaster but it ain't a v8.

you get a ton of torque outta the I6, more than you do outta the V8. plus the I6 is indestructible and gets better mpg than the V8. Any other argument is invalid
