Would you buy this rack?
I asked about what you all thought but it was under a post for the 3.5 " lift with stock tires and i dont think it got all the looks it could have.
Im curious to find out if anyone likes its style enough that they think i could make some parts money with it...meaning do you think its sellable....could always use the help to upgrade the jeep. heres the link for the pics. http://www.flickr.com/photos/9235532@N06/ the specs are- O.D. 75 1/4" in length and 42 3/8" in width and 5" in height. The 5" height is to keep a slightly lower profile and allow for the easy bolt on lumber rack bars I'll be making. As a contractor I'll need it. It weighs about 60 lbs, I was easily able to carry it out and install it myself. The top is slightly smaller to give the angles for looks. The front brow i was really happy with for the sorta angry look its got. Im still looking for the right mesh to put in it, something strong like youd see on the bottom of a home depot cart. But the spare tire carrier I have all worked out. It incorporates a 5/8" threaded rod, the plastic hub centerer that came with the jeep, drilled for the 5/8" bolt and a coupling nut with handles welded to it for easy on and off. I also have the mounts for the shovel and the jack figured out, Ill install them and take pics when i get the shovel and the hi-lift to put on it. The dimensions of the rack and placements of cross bars and mounts allow for the rack to sit down over the mounts and bring it within a 1/2" of the stock rails at the center. It also allows for unobstructed views out the moon roof. The clamp system is super strong and uses a 1/2" grade 8 bolt welded onto the top clamp surface for rack mounting and two 1/4" bolts for the clamps themselves. Ive had it going down the highway at 85 and no wind noise. Its finished with a Hammerite hammered gloss paint. 5$ a can for easy touch-ups. Bumpers and Sliders are next!

Hells yea. Actually, I would prefer a rounded version. Or a version that mounted directly to the roof of my WJ rather than on the existing rack rails.

Dude that thing looks great! When can I get one! , Ok I don't think I'm ready to invest,, but thats the way I feel about it.. I'ts one of the better looking ones I have seen! I am book marking this page for when im ready, probably around the end of the summer..
Whit that said.. I do have one issue.. I think most guys here will throw the occasional 2X4 or 10 of them on their racks. Is there a way to get them to clear 6" lights up there. Like making a mounting tab thats lower so the lights don't go above the rack? I wouldn't even mind seeing them out in front of the front cross bar. I would also like to see a close up of the way the rack mounts to the rails! Again that thing looks awesome! ![]() ![]() ![]()

how heavy
60 LBS without the mesh floor. very nice job nothing like making your own one of a kind thats great. i'm guessing it's constructed of al-uminiun seems like a steel one of that size would weigh over 100 LBS am I right?

Bailey,
unless you are vendor, you can't sell those here. There are steps to becoming a vendor on the main page at the top. Hunter

Ok Hunter- dont wanna overstep here....not trying to be a vendor yet...was just curious about interest.
Its not aluminum, its 1/8" square tube steel. I didnt think aluminum would offer the strength needed for the lumber. The 60lbs is a rough estimate as its only based on my being able to carry it, throw it around and install it myself and i know it ways a little less than my 80 lb dog I had planned on removable rails for the lumber rack attachment- that would also get you to clear the lights. Ill make all this up and finish the rack and post up some more pics in a couple weeks. I do plan on a round version as well, this material was just easily accessible and priced right. And the woman likes sharp lines. Ill take a close up pic of the mounts and put it on the same page the rest of the pics are on. Thanks for the responses guys Special thanks to j.love for putting up the pics!

If you did end up selling them how much do you think they would cost?

bailey, You know if you set up a photobucket account, you might have an easier time posting pic's Your past that 50 post mark so your ready to make the next step!
www.photobucket.com What I was thinking with the lights is just to lower them. Once you get them below the height of the top of the rack, you wont need an attachment for a lumber rack! Ok thinking out loud here,,, you were planing on the tire and other stuff up there... so maybe you might need more height then...
