WJ Upper Control Arm Bushing

Mine are pretty sloppy so I am goiong to change it. I attempted it late yesterday with no success. Does anyone have any tricks for taking it out? Also on the drivers side is the bushing supposed to not be pushed all the way in?

Yeah it isn't pushed all the way in..only goes in like half way or so.

If it is in REALLY bad shape, use a giant c-clamp (I use a ball joint press with various adapters) to push out the rubber part of the bushing and just leave the metal sleeve on the inside. Then carefully use a sawzall ( so you don't cut through the mount) or a hacksaw and cut the metal sleeve out. Then you'll need a ball joint press to push in the new bushing.

You can also use a BFH and a chisel to collapse the bushing and then wack it out that way.

OK that its supposed to be half way in.

I was able to get it all out...

Now is there anything special I am supposed to do when putting the new one in? Or just press it in?

Press it in...I spray the outside of the sleeve and inside of the mount with white lithium grease. Not sure if it helps or not but anything to make it easier when going it is a plus in my book.
