WJ sunroof - will not open - off track

My sunroof will not open. I took to the stealership and they quoted me about $1100 to replace the motor.

The motor seems to work, but perhaps it is off the track?????? I hit the switch and it tries to move, but I just hear tons of clicks.

Not super important to open in the wintertime, but the glass does not seem to make a perfect seal and I am concerned with rain/snow getting in.

Thoughts?

Sounds like the gear is stripped.

So, if the gear is stripped, what should the repair bill be?

not sure bout the sunroof...but i'd assume u'd replace the entire motor as its one piece unit probably like the antenna motor....
