WJ rear suspension clunking

I have a '99 WJ 4.7L laredo. I get this clunking from the rear suspension. It happens over everything, pot holes, speed bumps, the cracks in the road. I repalaced the ball joint on the rear upper control arm and it seemed to releave some of the problem but it still excists.

Is your Jeep stock? Or have you changed suspension parts?

Mine had a worn shock bushing. When the shocks were replaced it went away, now it's come back after about 1500 miles after having the shocks re-torqued.

take your stock shocks, get the bar pins out of them by burning the bushing, cool them off and clean them, then press them into your shock bushings with a vice, worked for me on my black diamonds. They had horrible clunk, now its gone!

You need the KOR shock mount kit, unless you still have your stock shocks and can pull the parts out of there. Personally, I just opted for Kevin's kit since that also includes new hardware. But either way, that will take care of it.

I see this is an old thread but i've had the same ongoing problem. I put on skyjackers budget boost (2 inch w/hyrdos) had the clunking noise so i bought the KOR kit and still clunking but it looks like the top shock mount is cracked and is able to move freely. Im guessing this is the problem, and will it just take a simple weld?

if the bushings sizes and stuff are wrong some people have been known to put some washers in there to tighten that up. I pulled the stock sleeves out of my stock shock bushings and slid them into my mx6's.. no noise
