WJ projectors. Here's my idea.

Just bought a set of Laredo headlights from another member here.

+

e-code projectors I have laying around from my A6

+

4300K 55w HID kit (D2S bulbs to fit the projectors) -35W kit pictured..

=

Better Lighting for my WJ.

Just an idea right now. Once I get the new (to me) lights, I can take a few measurements and feel it out some more.

Open to thoughts and criticism from the board!

Go for it.I'm interested to see how it will work. The only problem might be the glare from the stock housings.

From the plastic headlight lens?

Notice the cutoff plates on the projectors, this would keep the light out of oncoming traffic's eyes - If that is what you meant.

where did you get the 55w HID kit? I've been thinking of doing HID's in my WJ. Does that replace just the high beams? Or both low and high?

Havent bought it yet, but I plan on supporting www.sharphid.com (good feedback from other A6 guys doing halogen -> Hid swaps)
Waiting to spend more money, I want to make sure I am going to commit to this first, it would involve some (irreversible) modifications to the housings

It would just replace the low beams, but it should be possible to do both. Just pick up another set of projectors.

Go for it, there's plenty of room in those headlights. I fit a set of e55s in mine. I can't have a car w/just halogens any more lol Ever since I retrofitted my Integra I was hooked on HID.

azntrbl used nissan 350z projectors for the low beams on their original WJ hid/projector conversion.
Now they use infinity bi-xenon ones, which is, i'm sure, much more of a PITA to do.

As soon as i get off the phone, i'll go get the azntrbl prototype WJ ones from my back yard, and take some pics of them.

Theres plenty of room in the housings to convert low beams to hid with pretty much any housing that has a small enough diameter.
Heck, you can buy projectors from hella and do it... or canabalize a junker.

I'm going to go 50 watts as well, since i have to buy the bulb and ballasts anyway, might as well upgrade.

BTW. Hid is 35 or 50 watt. not 55.

I dont know if they realized that you're cutting out the stock low beam reflector to fit the projector in or not, but you're correct.

check out www.ddmtuning.com for HID stuff.. their prices and service are unbeatable! Not affiliated in any way, but I have used them a lot for my BMW lighting and they have always come through!
