I'm not complaining that I have Taupe. Just seeing Buc's pic makes me wish that my WJ came in white, that's all. White tends to hide the dirt better making me feel less guilty for not washing it often enough. Even my CharGold ZJ hid the dirt better.
I actually like the Taupe, but as MSU pointed out, am concerned about what color for the cladding would look best. Although, Brain and Chris posted some really nice looking photos.
I've never heard of Stoner Trim Shine. Is that a plastic restoration thing, or is it more of a paint?

Eh, here's a 5 second photoshop job. The taupe is a hard call. I still say go for it cause I hate the faded look. You could always go with a grey or charcoal color......

Oh yeah, the other option I saw on here is coating them with a 50% dilution of Linseed Oil. It brought out the color and lasted way longer than any polish.

" Trim Shine ",...Hmm,I have not seen any of that stuff around for awhile. I used it when I had my '97' Blazer. That stuff worked the nuts on everything dark ,...rubber ,plastic..
It is more like a step up from ArmorAll,...alot easier to work with ,not messy.
The only drawback was ,used it ALOT,on everything !

x2 i dont think the black looks good with the taupe.
I am doing this to my Deep Slate Pearl Coat WJ as soon as it gets warmer.

Mahalo for the PS job. Definitely looks different. I'll see what color cans of the Krylon they have the next time I run to Wally World.

Hmm... addictive car product. I will also check into Trim Shine. If I can avoid pulling the cladding off, that would be me first option. What was the maintenance on that? How often did it require a touch up application? I think Armor All sucks. After it rains, everything washes off leaving all kinds of streaking. I would bug me that the doors would have armor all streaks after it rained because I would armor all the latch handles.

Really? I thought the PS photo of my heep with black cladding looked pretty decent. And all the pics that Brian posted looked good too.
Anyway, after you do yours, make sure yo share the photos with us

Oh sorry, it was linseed oil and paint thinner
http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showt...ht=linseed+oil
He said it lasted quite a while. Might be worth a shot and if it doesn't work you can always paint them later on

Mine is a Gold 99 WJ. I painted the cladding Black last summer and it looks very good to me. My cladding was in very bad shape. The front was one color, sides were darker than front, back was darker than sides. Will post pictures in a couple of days.

The boiled linseed oil last at lest a year! May take two applications at first, but it works it way into the plastic and stays there.
Mix it up 50/50 with paint thinner and make sure its BOILED linseed oil. wipe it on with a paper towel, and then let it sit a few minuted and come back with a cotton lint free rag and wipe it off.
Some guys have had trouble with it if they left it on too long or got it on their paint. I personally never had that issue. It gets a little gummy if left on too long, but it wipes off. It wont eat your paint.
CAUTION!: The rags you use to apply and buff out the oil with can become combustible when your finished! its an evaporation thing, heat gets generated when the thinner evaporates. Either put the rags in a fire proof container, or set them in a coffee can and have a little bonfire of your own! This is a real thing to be aware of!
I have parked my jeep due to a motor issue and havent touched it in over a month, I will shoot some pictures of it tomorrow and show that it stays that color!

Out for a month? Wow, that really holds the cladding color well.
