wj awd's any good?

are they prone to the same issues as the zj's? I have a zj now with the vc on its last leg and was wondering about the wj's? From what I remember reading they don't use the vc in them anymore? thanks

A WJ with Quadra-Trac II Full time 4WD or Quadra-Drive 4WD doesn't have the VC issue. Unless you abuse the TC or use the wrong fluid, they hold up fine.

By the way, they're technically still 4WD, not AWD. The only AWD WJs are any late model WJs with Quadra-Trac 1, which doesn't have neutral or low range.

thanks for the input. as far as the awd. the only reason I called it such is because last time I referred to it as 4x4 I was flamed.

In a technical sense, anything with a 4x4 low range is 4WD. The early NV249 (like your ZJ has) is debatable, being that low-range isn't locked.

Whoever said that is an idiot. It is 4wd, Suburas are AWD. There is a difference.

Thought it is AWD because its all time? Anyways got the 'AWD' transfer case in our WJ no problem 170k miles. ZJ AWD 120k and giving problems so just take that into consideration lol.
