WJ automatic headlights going on and off at random

I have a 1999 Grand Cherokee limited. I like to have the headlights set to automatic since I'm to lazy to turn them on myself, but now what happens is that the lights turn on and off at completely random times... Even when the car is turned off and locked.

How do I fix this??

Sounds like your multifunction switch is on the fritz, from what I understand you need to buy a new one and replace it. Mine does the same thing, but I am too poor to fix it...

Yeah...even on eBay those switches are $80.

What do I have to do to install the switch?

Anyone know if those instructions are on WJJeeps?

I have a brand new switch, auto headlights, no fogs:
Airtex 1s1826-1999/2004-$50 shipped

Remove battery negative ground cable
Remove the screw that secures the lower tilting steering column shroud to the steering column multi-function switch mounting housing.
Unsnap the two halves of the shroud from each other and remove both.
Disconnect the instrument panel wire harness connector for the left multi-function switch from the switch connector receptacle.
Remove the 2 screws that secure the multi-function switch to the housing.
Remove switch.
