is this the wire harness I need?

I am trying to wire up for a trailer and all I have found is a ten pin connecter. it was on the driver side with nothing pluged into it. two rows of 5 with all 5 top pins and 3 on the bottom. Is this for trailer wiring or something else. I didnt have the factory tow pkg. Will I have to splice into the tail light?
Thanks
Greg

Sounds like that is for the OBDII...not the trailer wiring harness.

Correct. You're looking at the OBDII data port.

The only wire that would be in the cab near the driver would be for the brake controller, and it should be blue.

Pop the panel behind your spare and see if there's a connector there. It may not be since you don't have trailer tow/trailer prep though.

Since I am unable to describe it and cant find a pic via search here is what I am looking at. I also read that you have to bring a power supply back to it but the wires for the harness i bought are labeled right turn, left turn, brake and ground. please tell me there is a write up on this that I just couldnt find.

the big one with 8 pins

and one with 4 but dont know if they are right

Get a test light, ground it to something, then turn on your running lights, flashers, have someone push on the brake and activate the reverse lights, check to see if these pins are powered.

if so, there may be a plug and play wiring harness available for uhaul for this, or you can purchase the wiring harness you want and hardwire them into the corresponding wiring available.

I worked at uhaul while in college. I installed many wiring harnesses in vehicles without a designated plug in. Our technique would be to find a bundle of wires (as you have in your pic) and select the correct wires out of that bunch for the harness we were installing. At the least you need wires for marker lights, brake lights, turn signals, and a ground wire. Some incorporate reverse lights at well.

these desired wires can be found by testing individual wires with a test light, as mentioned above.
