Will an XJ bumper fit a ZJ ?Yes and w/winch

I can get a smoking deal at the local parts store on a pre-runner winch ready bumper . The frame mounts are 33" apart . I know I may have to drill some new hole perhaps , but is it going to be worth it , if the mounts are the same width , I`m thinking I`m gonna grab it . I can get this bumper for $550 Canadian , that only $6 USD , lol j/k

No. No easy way to retrofit it.

The bracket setup will be completely different, and the width may even be different, Grands are fatter than regular Cherokees.

$550 is enough to get a decent bumper designed for your vehicle, maybe custom made?

$550 is enough if I`m in the US , right now , I`m at $.79 on the dollar , tack at least $150 more for shipping , and suddenly I`m closer to the $1000 mark , yeah , I`ve done the math on that one , stupid exchange rates !

Well , thanks , I appreciate your $.02 . I`m planning on making a bumper , when I saw this on , I thought I`d check it out , and the price , not so bad . Too bad , it`s a cool bumper , and I`m not much on the prerunner style

If someone has the measurements to confirm this , that would be great . I need the the distance from the outside edges on both holes in the frt bumper support . Anyone w/o a frt bumper should be able to do this . I`m not against modding the brackets .......too much .

Why didn`t I bring a tape measure when I was at the u-pull this morning

Thanks

the mounting brackets will need to be moved. also depending on how picky you are the sides of the bumper will need to be extended to match the fender.

Yeah , I am aware of having to add some more length to the ends , these do turn in nicely though . The thing about this bumper is it looks an awful lot like KOR`s . I`m not sure the guy pegged it right saying it was for an XJ . I`ve looked at every bumper I could find for the XJ and couldn`t find it . Also , every mounting set-up I could see , wasn`t like this one . The ones I saw bolt on to the steel reinforcement bar , not into the slotted holes like the ZJ`s I`ve seen . This one even hes the holes which look like they might even match up , but , that`s hard to tell really . That`s why I am asking for the measurement . I don`t think I`d have to mod it too much .

I`m gonna go back there for when they open a get a few pics of this thing . Take some more measurements , and give a better look at what I`m trying to say , perhaps with a better look than I gave it before , I`ll see what you guys are saying .

here`s the bumper , it`s retail online is $640 US . It`s manufactored by Or-Fab: https://www.shopatron.com/product/part_number=83203BB/706.1.30350.0.0.0.0 . It`s over all measurements are 63" long , thats a pretty good fit ! The bracket span is 33" , that`s the outside dimension of the ZJ frame . On both sides , the stock bumper bracket is there , looks like a nice 3/16 plate , it wouldn`t take much to join onto or make a bracket to replace it and bolt it to the factory location on the outside of the frame . If I cut off the existing brackets on the new bumper to mate to the brackets I make , I don`t think reinforcing the two together would be an issue either . I would have to cut into the stock reinforcement bumper to access the mounting point , plus , adjust the height of the bumper to suit the ZJ , other than that , I`m just about ready to go buy this thing and get started .

What do you think Mr Sandman

It sure doesn`t take much to pull the bumpers on a ZJ , boom , 1/2 hour later and the new bumper got positioned to make a plan on how to mount it . Here`s the best pic I could get for how it`s gonna look . The brackets really couldn`t line up better . I should be able to make a plate to go inside the frame , hook to the tow hook points , then , make it attach to the frame on the new bumper . The lines are scribed in the existing frame on the new bumper , the cutting starts tomorrow . The way things are working out , I should be able to fab these brackets , drill the holes , and make this a bolt on applicatiom , of course , the welding will be done as well for extra support . So far , no regrets , tomorrow maybe different , but , I`m hoping to have it bolted on .
