Why is Rocky Road Junk?
Whats wrong with rocky roads zj lift kit. I mean the springs are OME. THe shocks are Doestech. The only parts that are rocky road brand is the trackbar and the trackbar relocation bracket. So whats so wrong with their kits it seems to be a good price $467 shipped.

Not sure I think people have said their service is terrible and plus you don't want to use a trackbar relocation bracket. Do it the right way and get an adjustable track bar.

I wouldn't say their parts are junk.
Its their service and how they practice business. They screw people around. For example, I bought something from them that was totally different than what their website described. I even spoke with a salesperson on the phone who confirmed what I was ordering was exactly what the website described. So I get the item, its nothing like how they represented it, so I return the item. 1 month goes by and no refund. I call them and they give me a great excuse (the person who does refunds is on vacation - you'll get your money back next week). Another month goes by - no refund yet. Another phone call and they tell me they'll do it right away. Another month goes by and still no refund. So I'm up to 90 days here on an interest free loan to Rocky Road. They finally refund my money, but they decide to take 15% for themselves as a restocking fee. Now remember, this was their mistake, not mine. I call and complain and they tell me to contact the owner. In the meantime, they decide to change their website to cover their mistake. WHen I finally hear from the owner, he tells me his sales people do not make mistakes. Sorry, we're keeping the 15% we charged you. And just to add insult to injury, I paid shipping both ways on this POS that I wouldn't have ordered had they been honest with me in the first place! Dealing with Rocky Road = ![]()

So what part was it?
Also isanyone else running their parts that can give me opinion on quality of parts, I can deal with the customer service as long as they get the parts right the first time.

It was a bumper.
You're crazy if you're going to give these guys your business. You must know there are problems or you wouldn't have asked. They'll straight up lie to you to make a sale. Just order the same parts from a reputable vendor. Have them match Rocky Road's price if they come in higher. If you order from Rocky Road and there is a problem (which is likely), you're in for a ride.

I call or email Nick (Kolak) and I get exactly what I want at a decent price quickly. Customer service ROCKS! Thats why I buy from him and not a place like RR... Has NOTHING to do with the parts.

for most of us pricing isn't the only factor, it's more so the customer service. which is why most buy from Nick or Kevin. They both know their stuff and have good prices. I've never heard anything bad about RR, but then again I've never searched nor purchased from them so...

Rocky Road is a huge rip off artist.i mean think about it they are piecing together parts you can get yourself and for that matter most likely cheap if you got them yourself.they will either send you horribly made parts or never even send you the parts after they have your money.a friend of mine made the mitake of ordering a bumper from then ,was charged for it then never recieved it.its going on well over a year .

I bought sliders from them, they are fantastic sliders, but it took forever to get them and everytime I called I got the run around. Once I got them I was happy though.

I purchased a 2" BB kit from them, straightforward stuff, can't say anything bad happened. But I have tried contacting them with questions about their 'Trailblazer lifts', they NEVER replied. It is a cheap price, and I was very tempted to buy it myself.
But no upper adjustible arms means you can't solve driveline vibrations if they arrive. And I wasn't aware that OME makes 3.5" lift springs for the ZJ, it's our guess what vehicle those springs are designed for. And a front trackbar relocation bracket is bad news. I saved my money and ordered the RE 4.5" kit and a rusty's trackbar conversion. Haven't installed it yet, but I bought it because of its reputation. |

OK so Rocky Road has bad service and boarderline bad business.. If you know this going in you could get the upper hand like record your phone order with them.. then you have proof if they jack you around play the tape for them.
Drop bracketsare bad.. OK so whatsall needed to make your own good kit. Ill piece a lift together if some one has a list of stuff needed and where to get it from. So whats the next best thing? Jason
