whole front axle shaft or just outer shaft?

CV joint on drivers side axle is torn, throwing grease all over and has developed a clicking, so I figure its time to replace it all.

Found Arlos write up, looks pretty easy. Just one question...

When I get the parts, is it the the entire driver side inner/outer shaft and cv joint?

Any pointers for this job that arent in Arlos write up?

Thanks

its just one shaft per side. there is no inner and outter shaft. You have the driver and the passenger cv half shaft. Here's a link, if you have quadra drive it will be a different one, they are the cheapest you can find anywhere and they are beefier than stock.

This may not be the one you need, but just check his store and you will find the correct one.

Yep, its one piece.

Very easy install, and with those prices, it's definitely easier than just changing the rubber boot. Not to mention once there is a rip in the boot the CV joint can degrade much quicker. Check the other one too and make sure it's not dry rotted and cracking as well. Even if it's not it wouldn't hurt to change both sides and then keep the good one you took out as a trail spare...That's what I did.
