If you have an amp, it will be mounted under the rear seat.

the amp should be under the rear driver seat, you may need to take a back door off to find out if the po replaced the speakers and bypassed the amp, from previous experiences the factory amps go into a "limp mode" basically they just act like they are not there if the wattage coming from the head unit is not the same as the stock(usually lower then 4 watts if an amp is factory) vs. the 5-20 watts the aftermarket head unit.

but ya he/she may have had it removed

Yup, under the rear seat under a flap of the carpet. It's an aluminum block about 7" long, 2.5" wide and 2" tall. Two plugs go into/out of it.

Unless someone changed it, they are 6.5 inch speakers in the doors, and 2 small tweeters in the dash

Yes thank you guys ive been looking under the glove box and under the steering wheel. i feel like a dumb *** lol. Ok the amp is still there i just checked. and yes two of the four speakers are missing so i need new speakers and they are 6.5 so i will buy some ebay 6.5 speakers now. Now looking for an amazing sound just need some music. You guys rock.

One more question. my model is actually a 1997 grand cherokee TSI. but there was no option for that when i signed up and it seems not very popular. Should i still search and consider mines a ZJ - In reference to when im buying parts or looking up info / specs etc et c etc.

again thanks in advance

ZJ includes Grand Cherokees from 1993-1998, so you definitly own a ZJ.

The TSI is a special edition model built only in 1997-98. It had some different trim like wheels, seats, and a sportier suspension. I think it was between the Laredo and the Limited models.
