Ok I will probably go with a 2" rubicon express lift, is this a good choice? Also will I be able to get off of the pavement a little bit, just enough to get it dirty?
Like I said I've come over from the import world (And I'm really happy so far) so I'm quite the newb when it comes to this.
With a 2" lift can I fit 31" tires, or will they rub?
What are some of the best performance mods, to start with, I have about $1200 to spend at the moment, and I'm dieing to tear into this thing.
31's will be fine. I'd go with the Kevins's 2.5. it's supposed to be a true 2.5 instead of most 2 inch bb that settle down to 1 3/4.
landen, you'd want to keep the stock height if not raised for a rally. although they do speed around they need to extra suspension travel to absorb the rough terrain at high speeds. that is why on offpavement stages you'll see most rally cars at or above stock height.
just go with the BB and Manik Grill gaurd and tail light guards. it will look nice. I saw a Laredo that had he cladding smoothed out and match painted to the body and it looked nice, something to consider. dont forget about the interior!
Yeah, yeah, chasing skirt. If you look at the time I posted it was after midnight on a Wednesday, the girls at ASU gotta sleep sometime, plus it's summer so they all went home to California. Ironically though, I had just gotten home from pursuing that beloved skirt...Wait, are you following me?
Oh and Bobby, I realize that the average rally car sits higher than stock, but that seems pretty scary to me in a GC, ok actually rallying in a lifted GC REALLY scares me....oh and so does the British guy...

Landon, go with me and my buddies to four peaks or sycamore creek and I'll show you how stable a WJ with 3in and 32's can actually be. You ever hear of JeepSpeed btw? They pretty much rally 2wd and 4wd XJ all over the southwest. youd actually be surprised on how stable these are, especially with enough driver skill. BTW there are plenty of hotties left here in AZ, you just gotta know where tofind them they aren't all in Tempe... look towards scottsdale:rtft:
and dont worry about hunter... he'll just mess with you and move your thread to africa but he is harmless it's all in good fun. he TRIES to be funny
To tell you the truth, I didn't realize mine was a 2WD for a couple days. The dealer said it was auto 4WD and I didn't think about it. Then I started getting pissed that I couldn't manually put in 4WD so I crawled under it and was like WTF!!!!
I got a lot of money back and tires, shocks, brakes ect. Now I love it.

Rallying XJ's? That sounds intense. My friends and I did some rallying up in Prescott, where I went to HS at. We actually had a party spot called "The Rally Track" because well, it was a rally track. We rallied a lot of stuff out there; WRX, Silverados, Lexus RX300, my old Grand Am, but the Dodge Cummins was probably the most fun. Yeah, yeah, the hotties in Scottsdale...I was over there last weekend and they are undeniably hot, although the tan blondes could be anywhere from 16-45, you just never know. Well lets face it, I'll take anything in between there.
I would create a killer lift with coilovers, gut the interior, slap in a 380 crate motor (of course the I6 would do), throw on a set of paddles, ford 8.8 in rear (spooled), and then go jumping in the sand dunes.
Well thats what my slush fund is being saved for (don't tell my wife that is what I want to do to her WJ in a few years:thumbsup: )
