All 17" rims are 7.5" wide, so I would say anything up to a 12.5" wide tire will fit safely (look at all the people runnign 12.5" wide tires on 17" moabs). Once you go wider than stock, however, you will rub on the rear shocks and possibly the control arms so you might want to get some wheel spacers.

I have an 04 Jeep GC also and was wondering if tire size 255/60-17 would fit on the stock 7.5" rims?

Thanks!

Yes, they will fit on the wheels.

I'm running 255/75/17's...with a 3" lift.

you could go 245/65/17, they are the same size as 245/70/16
