What A Great Day (but expensive!)

Well...
A while back, we picked up our ZJ for a winter driver for my daughter (still in HS)
She ended up driving it about 50/50 through most of the summer either because of seating, or storage for her job...

Her car (2001 VW Cabrio) needed a few repairs as well, so it was under the knife a few times...

The wife & I decided to reward her with her grades (top 8% in her class) as well as staying out of trouble, holding a job for the last year or so, and getting a jump on college applications, with already receiving scholarship offers...

She will most likely be heading out of state, so we bought her this to enjoy the remainder of her senior year in HS, and so she can head off to fullfill her life dreams without the worry of reliable transportation....

BUT....
The part I LOVE.......
I GET THIS BACK FOR A DD!!!!

With me probably being the only one who will be behind the wheel....
A transformation might be in order...
Some lift, some rebuilding, and possibly a little performance mods will find a way to this jewel....
I've been waiting for this day to come!!!

Did I mention she has a job!!
That was her complaint about it as well...
Her little Cabrio averaged at least mid 30's..

I think when we weren't paying attention... she snuck off in my wife's Acadia when she could...
Her school isn't but 8-10 minutes from our house, no highway tho..
But her work is across town, and I think that cost her a little...
But she is pretty savy, and managed to bleed some gas money out of her younger brother more than I think my wife knows about

VW's, really aren't much here either, I'm just an enthusiast...
I raced VW's for years when i was younger...
But I can't wait to start tearing back into the 5.9
We dropped her car off last night for some tint, so I'll get my 5.9 back this afternoon...
I know right off the bat, it has the coolant sensor in the display, so I need to pull it out & solder it for the permanent fix...
Brakes pulse, so I'll get that done this week as well...
I believe a blend door isn't functioning properly either...
So guess I'll tear back into that...
That will keep me busy for the week!

I'm getting the "Bad coolant sensor" message as well, I thought it is just a bad connection on the connector back on the VIC, am I right? The VIC also looses the date from time to time, although time setting stays, That suggests problem with the VIC connector as well... I was going to re-solder the connections on that connector. Do you have any other suggestions? TY

Take the VIC out & take it apart....
IIRC look in the lower right corner, & you will see where the connection is lost...
It's a simple fix if you can solder

Rear brakes were almost metal on metal...
Getting Ball Joints, & Tie Rod Ends replaced...
Then I will tear into the dash & see what is going on with the blend door..
Pretty much stays at 1 temp... So I'll see how everything looks...
Just can't wait to get to VIC repair...
I HATE SOLDERING!!!!

Would REALLY like to lift it a little..
But don't want to cut into it to do a Long Arm....
Gotta pay to play tho I suppose
